I've never been a shoe lover, but despite tossing all I can the last few years, I've been unable to go through and weed out my shoes. I have a small wardrobe of shoes in size 7 (I wear a 7 1/2) that I KNOW I'll never wear, but can't bear to toss. My friend Bart, who's much more hardhearted than I, told me recently that he has the same problem: he simply can't throw out old shoes!!
OK, H/Ks, who can think of a name for the inability to throw out old shoes???
I, too, like to keep shoes for as long as possible. Even if I don't wear them anymore. However, ever since I moved out of Richmond, I do try to throw out my old New Balance sneakers and running shoes, but mainly because they're no longer good for my feet (and legs and back).
Right now, I think I have about 15 pairs of shoes (sneakers, dress shoes, etc.), but I only really wear four pairs regularly. -Which also means some of my older shoes are still in good shape since they've never been worn that much.
