Had a nice brunch with dear reader Angela, then went to the annual paperback book show, which I'd completely forgotten was happening - thanks to Mr. Grant Geissman, I was reminded and I went.  After all these years, I was introduced to the gentleman who runs the show and I've been booked to sign there next year.  Very exciting.

Just had a delicious blue cheese burger from Mr. Bigg's restaurant.  It was quite caloric, so i opted to let Skip have the salad.

I was out chopping ice and getting the drains in the street clear for the melt water to drain.  It's a mess, but I've always loved playing in the water as is runs down the street. Now I just have to make it look like work and all the neighbors thank me

While I was out there I talked to a couple of my neighbors I haven't seen since...sheesh, fall or late summer.  It's funny we live very close to each other and look our for each other, but in the winter, we just stay in our own houses where it's warm.

I also met my new next door neighbors.  I just can't picture them in the bedroom hot tub over there and I REALLY don't even want to try it.  They seem like nice people. They are retired but sell antiques.  They have a nice golden retriever/lab mix maybe (?) named Katie. She wears a bandana and was very friendly.  Apparently she barked all the time at her old house but I have only heard her once so far.  Hope that means she likes it here

I also ordered some girl scout cookies from the girls across the street. Since their dad dug out my driveway while I was gone, it was the least I could do

I ordered one box of the new lemonades.  They look good. I asked my neighbor if she's tried them and she said "Yes" I said "Did you like them" and she said "No, but I don't like any of the girl scout cookies" lol, not a salesman in the making but she is honest

And the word of the day is: POLYHISTOR!
Zbigniew Znaniecki, the POLISH TYRO, was known for being a POLYHISTOR and for his LOOPY SHIRT collection, which he could talk about for hours if you weren't careful.

So...

I get into Chicago from Atlanta 25 minutes early, which means I - and the airlines - have a full hour between my connecting flight.  When we got in the air, the pilot mentioned that due to high winds in New York, the air traffic controller were slowing down the approaching planes, so we might be touching down 10-15 minutes late.  Well, by the time we were in "approach distance" everything on the ground was back to normal, and we were cleared for landing. 5 minute early!  So...

I head to baggage carousel 1 to claim my bag.  Almost everyone claims their bags.  Everyone except for a Russian student, and business man and myself.  :-\

I go to the office which is (thankfully) right by Baggage Carousel 1...

"Your bag will be in on the next flight.  It gets in at 8:30."  -OK.
"Would you like it delivered?"
-When would it go out
"Do you have a doorman?"
-No.
"Well, then it won't go out until probably tomorrow morning around 7:00, and then they have a five hour window for delivery."
-So, if I had lied to you and said that I had a doorman, the bag would have gone out tonight?
"Sir, I'm not here to argue with you."
-Well, my apartment is right at the ground floor, and my window looks right out on the sidewalk.
"Sir, I told you, that's the policy."

Grumble, grumble, grumble...

So...  Since I only had 45 minutes to wait at that point - and I'm not taking my chance with another luggage delivery courier...  I'm just waiting for my bag.  However, there is a sort of upside to this situation.  I received an "inconvenience voucher" which entitles me to $25 off my next United/Ted/Shuttle ticket.  Hmm...  -That's still better than waiting for my bag to come in sometime tomorrow morning.  *Although, I would have preferred a $25 voucher to use in the food court.  Ah, well...

Although, I do have to wonder if after someone has had his luggage "lost" on both his inbound and outbound flights in one trip, would he really feel like flying on that airline again in the near future? (And, thus, use the voucher.)  Hmm...

DR edisaurus - Thank you for your lovely comments concerning my "job" in the audition room.  If we do end up back in Atlanta in 2009, I'll make sure to arrange for another badge for you.  *You need to see the group of "professionals" that goes Friday morning.  ;)

And now I must get ready to drive into Atlanta and see if I meet up with some itinerant pinao player hanging out on a street corner.

Just for the record, I was not hanging out on a street corner, I was hanging out in a hotel lobby.... Oh.. nevermind.

Back from church and the theater. It is rare that this local theater casts poorly.

...DR Edisaurus i have a question about something you mentioned yesterday. You said that you try never to put spoilers in the promos.

This is really left up to you?  I really despise when they give away stuff in the promos. Because either shows give away crucial plot points.  Or they mislead like crazy.

Right now the only promos i watch are for shows like Survivor or TAR.

One other point, and maybe it's just me. I love The Closer.  But man i wish there was something at the beginning that showed each actor's name with their face.  Actually my real wish would be that they would also put their character's names.  There are just so many different police people. And i've actually watched very show. But I feel so stupid sometimes. Ever other show i can keep every character name straight. But for some reason I am really bad with this show. If you showed me each actor's face i don't think i could give you very many names off the top of my head!
So, basically what you're telling us is that you don't like spoilers, but you really need a cheat sheet.  Or a score card.

-But aren't you glad that CBS started running the actors' names during the opening "credits" for some of their soap operas?  ;)
