Thank you, DR elmore.

DR TCB, in 2004, after I got back from Goodspeed in July, I had all that health problem with the nerves in my leg and the fissure that went on for about a year.  I'm sure that DR Ben and Anthony, who lived through a lot of it with me, remember it more, but there was a period when I couldn't stand on my own feet and I was on crutches.  On the night it all began, after the emergency crew took me to St Lukes-Roosevelt hospital because of the pain and my inability to walk, the emergency room staff gave me a muscle relaxant: I could have performed ballet afterwards.  Enjoy the drugs.  I sure did!

Yep.  Brecht was a pig, espousing communism in East Berlin and storing all of his wealth in Swiss banks.  From all I've read, he was indeed a pig, taking credit for a lot of the work of his mistress/secretary Elizabeth Hauptmann on THREEPENNY OPERA (the original 1928 production; Brecht kept rewriting it) and HAPPY END.  That said, I think CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE and MOTHER COURAGE are masterpieces.

I agree. It's one of those cases where a jackass lurks beneath great talent.

Speaking of Happy End, Theatre 1010 here in NY will be mounting a production of the show this spring using the Feingold adaptation. We did that translation at the University of Minnesota in 1977.

Happy End

bk, I love Susannah.  Do you have the recording with Studer/Ramey/Hadley, or the older recording with Phyllis Curtin?

It's the newer recording.

Thank you, Dear DR Elmore!  Because of today's procedure, DH Richard and I had to give away some tickets for a Miami University Men's Glee Club concert tomorrow, but he wouldn't let me give away his Sunday ticket for The Lion King!

FJL, thanks to both you and Skip.  The envelope arrived yesterday.

Tax Question?   ???

Does our IRS return have to be postmarked by Sunday at midnight, or do we get an extra day becuase it is Sunday?

Boy, is it early.  Well, I must now drive to the car place, after which I shall return.

singdaw, there isn't that much music referenced in the new book, and the music that IS referenced wouldn't be that interesting to record, but you never know.

I may have felt like them but I certainly resembled neither. I once worked with Baryshnikov.  Pooey!

I'd rather look like ABT dancer Angel Corella.

TCB - The IRS has actually given until Tuesday, April 17 this year, since Monday the 16th is apparently some sort of holiday in Washington DC.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up.  And it was soooo nice to get more than four hours sleep last night.  I guess I got a good six hours, but I know that my body needs a good eight - which I believe I can take care of tonight. :)  In any case...

DR singdaw - The Dawn Upshaw "Knoxville" is a favorite of many DRs here on HHW.  It's definitely one of my DIDs.

Well, I have a set of auditions from 11:00-1:00 today, and then it's back up to Westport for tonight's final preview.  The show is coming together nicely, and I'm always amazed at how actors can process and incorporate all the fixes and edits that happen to a show during this time period.  Bravo!  -Meanwhile, the musicians down in the pit get to have their music in front of them.

Well, I need to take care of a few things around here before heading out, so...

Good morning, HHW!

My, my. We started yesterday with BK tenatively thinking about giving Indian food another try...and ended the day with him a blonde! Talk about changes!

Personally, I LOVE Indian food, but, then again, I've always been blonde. (Except for a brief try being a redhead in college.)

Is there a connection here?? :)

Maybe not.

Good morning, fellow Dear Readers. I did not sleep well, so today will be a long day. According to the news the winds are down; I have a lovely view of a wall outside my window so I can't tell.

TOD: I bought a couple of bargain CDs yesterday to listen to on the drive: Best of Eydie, Leroy Anderson hits, and bagpipe music. Don't tell DR Sandra, but I got a CD of Lawrence Welk music for her upcoming birthday. (Her big gift was a trip to Las Vegas last month and a ticket to Blue Men Group.)
