DR MattH, at the last minute BOSTON LEGAL was not shown last night.

Well, that's a bummer! I guess another WILD WILD WEST episode will go in its place this afternoon.

Good morning!

We've got white sky syndrome here this morning, and the forecast calls for some showers tonight. Boo! After a weekend of rain, I'm tired of it.

I knew I was going to have time this afternoon for TV shows on the DVR and a complete film, so I went to the to-watch shelf and was surprised to find a Fox Noir that had somehow not gotten watched yet - WHERE THE SIDEWALK ENDS. I will certainly be able to get to it today, and I'm looking forward to it.

A lot of reruns on TV tonight.

Of course, Fox has replaced that new episode of BONES with a rerun from earlier this season (the one with Brennan and Dr. Hodgens buried alive).

MEDIUM and CSI: NY are both repeats tonight.

So, basically I have the IDOL results show (recorded), CROSSING JORDAN, and LOST.

Also the title of a wonderful book of children's poetry by the late Shel Silverstein.

LAKE WORTH

To answer your question from yesterday. Yes I do live near lake worth. It is two cities (or so) north of me off the I95 about 15-20 minutes on  good traffic day.

There is also a small independent movie theater in the Fort Lauderdale area called Cinema Paradiso. www.cinemaparadiso.org
503 SE 6th St
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301
(954) 525-3456

Also another one that often shows independent and gay themed films called The Gateway in Fort Lauderdale (Sunrise Blvd at Hwy 1) Owned by the Sunrise Theater Chain www.sunrisecinemas.com who also own six other multi-plex cinema houses.

Ok, maybe I'm crazy, but I found out I am getting me the "complex cases", in other words child porn and cases the other lawyer doesn't want, because I'm "so good at working them out"   Oh please. Like I'm going to spend my time and energy and deal with what you have to deal with emotionally to investigate this crap and then leave before the case is over so someone else can come in and screw up everything I did.
Guess again. I am thinking about leaving a month earlier.

I watch AI for the first time this year.

OI VEY!

The ones that I watched most were bad and were rightfully criticized by the panel.

The only one that was good that I saw was (Eliza) Dolittle. Who's first name I don't recall.

What a train wreck this show is. How is it that this show is so popular.

Her first name is Melinda and she is a phenomenal singer.

The show maintains its popularity because America loves a contest, and that's what this show is, first and foremost, and in the grand tradition of such other talent shows as Ted Mack's Original Amateur Hour and Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts, you get the good with the bad.

Yeah. I talked to my brother and I'm thinking just leaving 2 weeks earlier, July 6th instead of July 20 would make a world of difference.  It was my original plan that I changed for some reason.  Now I think I'll change it back

Guess I'll head down now to check the mail and do some odd jobs around the house before starting to prepare lunch.

I cleaned the den this morning, so that little chore is already completed! Hooray!

Reported elsewhere on the net:

Jamie Bell, the child star who shot to fame in film Billy Elliott, will be the next young actor to appear in Equus, replacing Daniel Radcliffe.   Digitalspy.com reports: "Jamie is really excited about taking over and isn’t at all daunted about stripping off."

After taking DH Richard tomorrow for his first physical therapy appointment, I'll drive to Tiffin, OH, for the AAUW/Ohio conference and convention Friday and Saturday.  As program VP for AAUW/Ohio, I've been working with the local folks since last September to plan this event.  Pray for Rosemary's baby.

This is kind of fun!

Howard Kissel, reporting on the recording session for the Encores! Face the Music:

Monday the cast of the City Center Encores! concert revival of Irving Berlin's 1932 "Face the Music" recorded the score -- probably best known for the standard "Let's Have Another Cup of Coffee" -- in a studio on the far West Side.

Maestro Rob Fisher, who did as exhilarating a job with the New York Philharmonic on "My Fair Lady" last month as he did with "Face the Music" a few weeks ago, was again on the podium.

...The most interesting moment in the session came when a dispute arose over a lyric in the song "Manhattan Madness," which was hauntingly sung by Jeffrey Denham.  Denham had been singing "Traffic that stops and goes without knowing/ What all the shooting's for," an entirely logical sequence of words that was in the score transcribed from the Library of Congress.

Someone, however, noticed that in the collection of Berlin lyrics edited by Robert Kimball, a musical theater scholar of impeccable thoroughness, the line reads, "Traffic that stops and goes without knowing/ What's all the shootings for."

Much Talmudic wrangling ensued, but the issue was resolved by something that could not have been used even a few years ago -- YouTube.

In researching his role, Denham had come across a clip from a '30s movie ("Strictly Dynamite," starring Jimmy Durante and Lupe Velez) in which "Manhattan Madness" is sung in the background during a nightclub scene. The YouTube clip was summoned up on one of the half-dozen computers used in the session.

Presumably Berlin exerted tight control over the use of his material at the height of his career. Although it's a little hard to hear under the dialogue, the movie clearly supports the Kimball reading. So, if it sounds odd when you get the album later this spring, you should know it's entirely authentic.

George - As far as the IRS goes - absent something like fraud or substantial understatement of income, penalties are generally only assesssed on a balance due with the return, that is, only if you owe money.

The sticky point (which I'm sure doesn't relate to your presumably simple straightforward return) is that if there's ever an audit and you end up owing money after that audit, there's always a possibility that the IRS could say your return was late to begin with and assess penalties on the balance due - though I can't imagine they'd do that type of after-audit late filing penalty for only one day late.  :)  So it's always best to put in for that extension before the due date just in case.

Thanks for the info, FJL.  Next year, I'll make sure that I'll get it all done much, much, MUCH (that's three muches) sooner. :D
