THE LAUNDRY LIST

Well, you've read the notes, good folks that you are, and now you're ready to post until the cows come home, or at least until the cows are on their way.  So, post away, and I'll join you from edit bay number four.

BK, I don't have any questions for you yet. Perhaps later. Goodnight to all!

But I have answers.  Oh, do I have answers.  For example, one answer I have is only when there are beans in the burrito.  I leave it to you to figure out the question.  Question me an answer, baby.

I, for one, would like to know more about those pictures from Mars.

Every time I see what I think are pictures from Oz on TV, it turns out to be animation from NASA about what they "think" things looked like when their equipment approached, and then landed on, Mars.

I want the real deal.

Are we getting the real deal, BK?

Huh?  Huh?  Is the real deal out there?

If it is, where do I have to look to see the real deal?

DR Tom of Oz:  Why are you lurking?  Are you catching up on the plethora of posts?

Are you wondering what in the frell most of us were talking about when we pushed the posts into the plethorasphere?

If you don't answer, who're you gonna talk to when we go to bed here on the Westernmost Coastline of the Newnited States?

I saw pictures of Mars.  I saw England, I saw France, I saw someone's underpants.  They were cotton, of course.

Mars is the Angry Red Planet, that is all I know.  No, that is not true - I also know that Mars Needs Women, and all the single women on Mars hang out at bars.  Yes, Virginia, there are Mars Bars.

Have you noticed that tomovoz is just being contrary and not posting.  Perhaps he is looking at pictures of Mars.

Maybe Tom of Oz is munching on a Mars bar!

If I had a Mars bar, I'd be munching on it right now!

I've been peckish all day!

I wonder if they sell Mars bars in bars on Mars!

Ooh!  THAT's a deep thought, too!

Do Martians even have bars????

All right, everyone, here's a question I put off earlier because it wasn't a very holiday-y thing to ask:

What is your favorite personal disaster story?

Anything from an earthquake...to a hurricane...to a bad hair day...to going into a recording studio with Carol Channing...or is that the same thing?

I wonder, also:  Do Martians spell their name as M-a-r-t-i-a-n-s?

Or do they prefer "M-a-r-s-i-a-n-s"?

That would make them "mar'zeeuns", wouldn't it!

But maybe we have it all wrong.

Maybe it's not "Mars" at all, but maybe it's "Maris."

In that case, they would be "Marisians."

All right.

It's bedtime.

I thought we were going to roll here, but things got quiet.

Tom of Oz disappeared.

S. Woody asked a question that's beyond my tired brain's capacity to tackle at this moment.

And I'm guessing BK got diverted!  Oh, yes!  He can be diverted!

Ooh!  Look!  Shiny object!  Shiny object!  Ain't it purty!

That, or he's listening to one of his multi-thousands of CDs or concurrently watching one of his multi-thousands of DVDs or he's talking on the phone or worse yet, he's found a chat room somewhere and he's having cyberconversation.

So I'll be on my way now.

I'm not gone yet because Miss Vickie is yakking her Fancy Feast on my carpet in the living room and I'm nauseous.

Yes, now it's over.

Ah, joy!  Rapture!

Now...do I wait for it to cool off or do I clean it up all steamy?

That last question -- that was for Ask BK!

Your call, Bruce.

What would you do?  Get it when you won't feel the 100-degree heat coming off it, or wait until later in the morning and clean it up cold?

Alone again!

That's right.  Just me, myself and I on this here board right this minute.

Everyone else has deserted.

So...why aren't I in bed?

Because I'm nauseous, yes.  My cat yakked her guts onto my living room carpet and now wants to cuddle on my bed.

Sure.  That's gonna happen.    NOT!

Gross out!

Good night, though.

I mean it this time.

Hmmm... Ron.... Hmmm...

Well, I went ahead and reviewed the nice full arrangement I worked on, and then decided to give the demo recording another listen.  Oopps!!  For some reason I had a different beginning - note-wise - to the main hook of the melody.  AAGGHH!!  So, I went back and changed - corrected it wherever it needed to be corrected.  All is better now.  I hope.  I almost got another chart finished, but then I couldn't remember what the melody sounded like anymore.. So... then I came on here... And read about Dr Ron's cat woes... And now I'm going to bed... I think...

*Oh, I did take my brother's dog out about an hour ago so he could take a pee (can I say "pee" here?).  Beautiful night outside.  Cold(!), but a clear sky and a beautiful full moon!  Or at least a very nearly full moon.

Hmm.... A Full Moon... And a very high number of posts...  See!!! There's the actual scientific proof that the Full Moon does cause people to act "strangely"... Well, maybe not... at least not on here.. It seems most H/Ks - myself included - are already strange.  Ah, well...

I need sleep!  Goodnight!

Hmm.... Now I'm all alone...

Oh, just wanted to say that my brother Mike's dog - (my brother being Mike, and his dog being Iki) - is quite "homesick" right now.  My brother, Mike, and his wife, Veronica, and their two kids, John Michael and Alyssa, went to Puerto Rico last Saturday for a few weeks to visit Vero's family.  So, Iki is a little depressed right now.  There's nothing more pitiful than a pitiful chihuahua.  :(

Wasn't I going to bed?????

Don't you people sleep!!! I'm going to have to start coming in early againg just to catch up on the posts. I left the office at 4pm yesterday, didn't have a chance to log on last night and I arrive this morning to find 400 posts. Wow (or Wowza as a certain Virginian/DCer might say)!

No questions yet but I'm sure I'll be back. I must now go wash my bowl. I had oatmeal and raisins for breakfast with a cup of black coffee. I ate it whilst (I love those English turns of phrase) perusing the plethora of posts on this here board.

Back later.

I'm back already. I washed my bowl and I'm ready to post, er, work. Darn this job. It keeps interrupting my posting schedule.

The cold weather afflicting many other parts of the U.S. has arrived in NY although it's not THAT cold. It is winter after all and having grown up in Minnesota, temps in the 20s don't phase me. Just dress appropriately and wear a hat or a hood.

I have to check the size of my picture of Ant and me at Tower Bridge in London. It shows me in a stylish blue English duffle coat with hood, purchased 20 years during my first trip to London. I'll post it if I can get it down to a reasonable size.

These are really important questions, and they're for DR Ben:

Do steel-cut oats make for superior oatmeal? And at what point do you add the raisins?

I like the steel-cut oats because they are higher in fiber and they don't turn as mushy when you cook them. When I cook the oatmeal in the microwave (cooking in the microwave is a loose use of the term cook), I add the raisins after I've put in the water and then I let it sit for a minute to let the raisins plump up. If I'm cooking in a pot on the stove I let the oatmeal cook for a while and then around the last two minutes I drop in the raisins.

I keep experimenting and I think I've found a good size. I've deleted the message/picture twice so far cause it sends us into Cinerama. Attempt number 3.

OK. I'll live with it. It's a little fuzzy but the others were just too big. If it causes problems let me know and I'll delete it or try to resize it again.

Bye for now.
