And speaking of Chocolate, I notice that chocoholic DR Jose is on the board. A man who has sampled the delights of OZ chocolate and probably knows why we have not much interest in Hershy (sp) and Whitmans here.

Could we tempt you with a Godiva Truffle?

Speaking of all-black casts, we have a poster here of the all-black GUYS AND DOLLS. I'll take a snapshot of it and post it either tonight after the Met or tomorrow...it's a hoot!

I've been doing a little research today on the movie of MAME, but I can't find what its original budget was. Does anyone know? I'm asking because looking at the film again, I was startled by the tinny sounding orchestra. Could they not afford a larger one, or were they afraid more pieces would drown out the frog-voiced Miss Ball? I was just curious how much was spent on this notorious flop?

Naked truffles riding horses. Sounds very strange - even to a Peeping Tom.

Tom of Oz:  My mother makes a killer fudge -- one with peanut butter and one with black walnuts.

Both are divoonly decadent!

Good afternoon!

I'm home!  I'm home!  I'm home!

-For a few days at least, but I'm home...

And my roomie took down his (kind of ugly) Christmas decorations. ;)  Of course, the sink is full of dishes, but I expected that... he "warned" me last night when we were chatting on-line.

I've even made a quick trip to Ukrop's (my favorite grocery store - period!) and CVS for some supplies.  Later tonight, I'll attempt to put away some of my clothes, kitchen supplies, etc.  I just need to clear enough space so I can sleep in my bed tonight.

I got a little bit of a late start this afternoon - getting all my stuf packed up was fast and easy... putting it all in the car took a little bit of time and creativity.  I just had a little bit more stuff than I thought I had.  It wasn't major amounts of stuff, but I got plenty of exercise loading and unloading the car.  The rush hour traffic also started early today out of DC.  Thankfully, nothing came to a standstill, but it was a little slow for a few miles there.  In any case...

I'm home!

-And what a lovely number of posts to catch up on!

Well, I need to do some cleaning, and then I'm heading out for a late dinner with a friend.

DRDerBrucer,
I didn't know Michael Jackson wore a wig - that's hysterical. I just began a little experiment. I e-mailed the photo with your caption to my friend Lynne (other end of Toronto). I'm now waiting to see when it will be sent to me, and from where.

Two more hours!

Two more fershluganah hours!

Oy!

I don't think I have the strength. My deck is pooped.

My dumps are downed.  Even my "ins" are all in!

Sigh!

The ONE thing that keeps me going....gives me the momentum to plod through the day...is the everloving excitement in the knowledge that tonight is the short program for the men's and ladies' national figure skating championships.

:D  (gotcha!!!)

On a chick?  A doll?  A babe-o-rama?

On YOU it looks great!

On poor Emily?  I don't think so.

(But, I could be wrong).

As for the chocolate mentions today...

Now I want a Violet Crumble bar and/or a Crunchie!

Or some Fredo Froggies - milk, white and caramel...

Or some Chocolate Rocks from Chocolate Box - actually, I think I still have some of those left... as well as two boxes of Frangos - original (chocolate mint) and an assortment of their other flavors...

Or some Turkish...

Or...

..And I still have that one pound box of fudge from Williams-Sonoma - 1/2 pound of dark chocolate, 1/2 pound with black walnuts.

OH, and when I was at Ukrop's, I finally saw - and bought - a bag of Peanut Butter M&M's.  *My roomie is actually allergic to chocolate, so these should be safe for him to eat.

Quite the quest you've set for yourself here, MattH.

What can you tell us about Kirby Furlong?

DR Jose:  Ummmmm...aren't the peanut butter M&M's still coated wtih a milk chocolate shell like all the other M&M's?

I think a jar of peanut butter might be the safer route.

Even I am not enough of a researcher to be willing to delve into the mysteries that are Kirby Furlong. And what a horrible match using Bruce Davison who looked NOTHING like Kirby.

Are peanut butter M&Ms the ones in the blue bag? If so, they are always plentifully in stock at the grocery stores around here. Or is there some other type I'm just not aware of in those blue bags?

Not an M&M guy, I guess. But those Mars bars you guys were talking about yesterday sure made me hungry for one (or ten) of those!

Some more chicken: here are two more recipes that my mother made all the time.  She always used legs or thighs as we are not fond of chicken breast, but I think these would work just as fine with them.

3/4 cup cooking oil
1/2 cup dry white wine
1 clove minced garlic (or more, depending on how much you like garlic)
1 finely chopped medium-sized onion
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme, tarragon or rosemary (or all of the above)

Pour over the chicken and marinade for a few hours.  Make sure chicken pieces are turned every so often so that they get evenly coated.
Bake at 300-350 degrees for 20 minutes, then for another 10 minutes after you turn them over and then for 5 minutes on broil to give them a brown coating.

---

Chinese-style chicken

Chop up chicken into chunks
Chopped green onion
White pepper
Oyster sauce

Add small amount of water to coat chicken to make sure a sauce is created during steaming.

Steam in a bowl for about 20 minutes, or until all of the pieces are cooked.

Oh, and DR Jennifer - There was an ad for Shell stations that now have "ABMs" in them.  So...  And there was another ad on the page that referred to ABMs.  So.. ???

The P&B M&Ms are in the dark orange bag, and they do still have the chocolate coating! So beware, Jose, and don't poison your roommate!

To those concerned DRs... My roomie is not highly allergic to chocolate.  He can actually eat Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Reese's Pieces, etc., in moderation  He just can't have "pure" chocolate - it doesn't sit too well with his system.  However, he does shy away from chocolate chip cookies.  Maybe the peanut butter is kind of a buffer - peanut buffer.  ???

Thanks, DR MBarnum. Yes, I have seen those dark orange bags of M&Ms but maybe not all the time. The blue bags are Crispy M&M's, I think.

Is M & M likely to be nominated for another oscar this year? I just don't seem to have developed the taste. Rap and Peanut butter - not for me Sweeties.

Of course, you could take your M&M's and mix them with Skittles.

Instant S&M's.
