Good Afternoon!

OK.. I think I get the esnipe "service", DR Ron Pulliam.

But don't those people who bid and bid and run up the price end up having to buy the item anyway?  Better their money, than mine/yours.

Better they don't know "YOU" are bidding and really interested.  If your money is hidden, the bid doesn't go out of the stratosphere.

Yes, they end up paying more often than not...but it could have been YOURS for less than it went for if you used a sniping service.

Ron, the newer DVD of Return To Oz is indeed anamorphic - not the greatest transfer but better than the earlier version.  And your CD was posted this morning.

Has this been posted here before?

"HEALTH QUESTION & ANSWER SESSION
DR. Larry

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on
exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you
live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it
faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

---------------------------------

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And
what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism
of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a
good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop! can give you
100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

---------------------------------

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means
they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness
that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

---------------------------------

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you
have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

---------------------------------

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?

A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

---------------------------------

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING! ... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact,
they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

---------------------------------

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be
doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

---------------------------------

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable! It's the best feel-good
food around!

---------------------------------

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

---------------------------------

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

---------------------------------

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food
and diets."

So, I lunched with the author of the musical that I did the reading of - he wanted my honest opinion and he got it - in spades.  His wife was there and was basically agreeing with everything I said.  Him, being the writer, took a little longer to come around to it.  I always preface these sorts of sessions by saying, "You don't have to agree, but you have to listen and look at what I'm saying."

I gave him several ideas which, of course, I have sworn not to do for free anymore.  He's asked what it would take for me to help him redo the project and I'm thinking about it.  I'm not sure it would ever be a wonderful show, but I know I can at least help him understand its point and help him focus, plus do completely new arrangements of the score and possibly even bring in someone else to do a few new songs.  I know they don't have a lot of money, but I'm thinking of charging what I do to direct and create a one-person show - that seems fair to me (although still a bargain compared to others' rates) and I don't think I'd be putting in humungous amounts of time.

I happened to see that book you were watching, DtM, at about two minutes before close of bidding. The activity jumped just seconds before the close, and it almost doubled.
$787?!?  There is no way it's worth that much!  There is no way I would have bid near that much!  But then, as I've said, I'm a tightwad.

Best looking beard

Why would Neil Patrick Harris need a beard when he has come out publicly?

Good evening all.

I had a pretty good day today.  No tears--so far.

Dear Elmore, I read your post from yesterday.  When I make it back up to NY, you and I will have to go see something but it will have to sad.

That way we can have a good cry together and tell everyone it was the opera/play we saw.   :)

I didn't post last night because I knew you all were into the Tony's and you know how I feel about award shows.   :P

Now, if one of you were up for an award, that would be different.  I would be front row, center seat and God help them if they didn't pick you.   ;D

Poor Der Brucer! This has been flogged to death since we all started jumping on him about it this morning.
