well, I've always got  ... Paris, I mean, my ode -- and you can't take that away from me (I started singing again ...)

DR RonPulliam - Thanks for popping back in to say, "Hello."  We all take breaks from time to time - heck, I've taken one or two... or three over the years.  And we all are welcomed back with open arms when we do return.  We shall keep your seat cushion fluffed in the Living Room.

Speaking of Paris, has anyone heard from Francois?

Really loved GYPSY.  Looking forward to a couple more visits.

One caveat:  A few of the tempi (tempos?) were faster than I've come to expect, and I couldn't figure out the dramatic purpose for this

You don't sing me love songs...
Ya hardly speak to me anymore...
When I come through the door at the end of the day.

I remember when...

...You couldn't wait to love me
Used to hate to leave me

Now after loving me late at night

When it's good for you, babe,
And you're feeling all right
When you just roll over and turn out the light...

Sound like the cast of A Chorus Line.

Did I say that?   :-X

I wasn't really bothered by the tempi. The strip sequence felt a lot shorter, but that could be from the re-working.

And, yes, I had the LP.  Although, it was Neil Diamond's record and not Barbara Streisand's.

I grew up listening to my mom's LPs of Babs. I blame her. And Jose.

I also own the Donna Summers "Greatest Hits" album, where Donna's vocals were bumped up to be just slightly louder than Barbra's. Hehe...

I think the Encores Summer Stars Series should feature Donna Summer.

She could play the Melba Moore role in PURLIE! I'd pay money to hear her sing "I Got Love."

Hmm... I wonder if there are still tickets available for tomorrow night's opening performance of Gypsy at 6:30?  Hmm...

*Although, I keep hearing the the official "press" opening is not until Saturday, the 14th.  Or maybe things changed?  Who knows?

In that barn of a theatre, no one would know. I hate to be tacky, so I'll just quote Oprah... "Black don't crack."

The opening for the cast (party and such) is apparently Thursday, but like The Public Theater does, the press opening will be a few days later.  Actually kind of civilized for the cast to be able to enjoy the party without the reviews being out the same night.

Ah... And then there's "drinking game", where you try to keep drinking for as long as Babs hold out that long note after the intro.  Crazy theatre people.  ;)

When they do visit, do get grey or red roos? Do you get Wallabies also?
Not red roos int his area. More than likely a wallaby than a kangaroo.  A wallaby is of course a kangaroo wannabe.
