Miss Karen - Your chocolates (which you've never thanked me for) were Teuscher Truffles

It's the thought that counts.

Yes, you are right (as always) -- so thank you for the chocolates (I never got to eat) and the flowers (I never saw)....

...and the ode (that I did get to read) and you can't take that away from me (I wanted to start singing again to get over the sadness of a francoisless week) ....

it's like musical theatre night here at HHW -- we keep breaking out in song...

Grey Roos in this area. Red tend to be more "ouback" and bigger.

DR Jose has of course been up close and personal with our local 'roos.
(They still speak of him)

Tomovoz, I suspect even you'd be impressed by LuPone's Rose.
Well I have forgiven her turn as the old Lady in Candide.  There's hope.

Karen, have you ever heard of the Chieftains renditions of "Cotton-Eyed Joe"?

They are pretty lively

No, but is it on their county Plank album? I'll PM you later about it and the song Patty Griffin does with them on it -- I'm about to fall asleep at the keyboard ... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Possums (ring tailed and brush tailed), Echidnas, Wombats and Wallabies are frequent visitors here Dakota. We have 2 and half acres here - one acre is bushland.

I found out a couple of days ago that a cousin to my sister and I (he's the son of my dad's estranged brother) recently moved to Salem (I think), Oregon.  (MBarnum, do you know a guy with the last name of Dougherty?  I forget his first name, but his wife's name is Angel. ;))  Anyway, he wants to get and stay in contact with us here in Washington and he's up here now visiting at my parents' house!  So, I'm off to meet a cousin! :D Have a good evening all!

Well, I met my cousin John and his wife Angel.  They are both very, very nice people. :) It turns out that they don't live in Salem, but in a small town (4000 or so people) near Coos Bay (sp??), and I don't remember what the name is.  Oh, well.  Anyway, tomorrow, my sister, niece, aunt and cousin and his wife will tour around Olympia.  John and Angel are leaving early Friday morning, so this is the only time that we really have to get to know each other...so I'm skipping work!

When I came home this evening (at about 10:30 pm), the temperature up in my bedroom was 93 degrees!! :o AND it's at the top of my 3-story town house condo, AND there's no open-able window up at the top! :P The heat just goes up there and stays.  I have a couple of fans blowing air around but it still can't actually cool the air. :-\

I just spoke to Ron Raines; I gather that Jerry Hadley has died.

That's very sad. :'(

Good Evening!

As for Gypsy - What DR Jason just said!

And more!  It truly is "event theatre".  Yes, Patti Lupone is the star of the show, but I'd have to say the true star of the show is Arthur Laurents, the playwright, and Arthur Laurents, the director.  He really has brought a fresh spin to his own piece.  It's not another remounting of his original.  I'm going to have to sit down with my script and score and see where some of the cuts and additions - all minor - were/are.

And as for Patti LuPone, she's in incredible voice right now.  -And I gather with some of the more operatic work she's been doing lately, that she's really been taking care of her instrument.  A truly thrilling, awesome and at time frightening performance.

Thanks, Jose and Jason for the reports!  Too bad they can't videotape THIS production for posterity...and commercial release! ;)

I think that tonight, I actually will need to sleep down in my first floor living room.  It's always been cooler down there since I'm never there and I never have the heat on down there.  It's just Too Damn Hot (almost a Cole Porter reference) anywhere else!!

I think the Encores Summer Stars Series should feature Donna Summer.

I'd pay to see that! ;D

The pic looks stre-e-t-ched.  What's the correct size, anybody know?

110 pixels by 150 pixels.  Here's a modified version of Edna in the correct ratio:
