Well, you've read the notes, the notes were filled with clutter, and now it is time for you to post until the cluttered cows come home.

And now - for those who enjoy it - an Unseemly Trivia Contest question:

Two plays - one season.  The season was littered with flop plays.  Play one was one of many flop comedies that season.  It was directed by someone who was equally known as a producer and playwright and who had several hits, one of them a big musical comedy.  The cast included an actor making a sort of comeback, said actor being most well-known for playing one role early in his career.  A female co-star would go on to appear in a classic musical, and a male co-star would go on to appear in two classic musicals.

Flop play two ran a bit longer than flop play one, and was adapted from a novel.  Even though the play was a flop, it would ultimately be turned into a hit film. The person who adapted it would, just a few short years later, write a classic musical.   The play starred someone who'd appeared on Broadway many years prior to this play, but who was much better known as a motion picture star.  Also in the play was an actor who, a few short years later, would co-star in a classic motion picture, and then star in a classic motion picture, which would lead to him to becoming a beloved film star of his era.  Also in the cast was an actor who would, a few short years later, star in a classic musical.  Another co-star originally began a career in a different field of show business, and said co-star was very successful in said field.  Said co-star also became legendary for one piece of comic business.

So:

Play one:  Name the play, name the director, and name the big musical comedy he directed.

Name the actor who was making a sort of comeback, name the role he was most famous for playing, and name the reason for the sort of comeback.

Name the female co-star and the classic musical in which she'd appear.

Name the male co-star and the two classic musicals in which he'd appear.

Play two: Name the play.

Name the star who played the lead

Name the co-star who would co-star in a classic movie, then star in a classic movie, and name the two movies.

Name the co-star who would go on to star in a classic musical and name the musical

Name the co-star who started out in another field of show business, tell us what said co-star did, and name the comic piece of business the co-star would become legendary for.

Good luck to one and all and also all and one, and remember DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS TO THE SITE - send them to me in an e-mail to bruce@haineshisway.com.

I do not care for Mr Douglas as an actor AT ALL. Mr Douglas Jnr is even worse.

No, I wasn't...but it was a fun trip. :) The very large cast performed quite well for a bunch of kids, but then the summer theater program has always put on good shows.  And since Once On This Island is one of my all-time favorite shows, there wasn't much chance of me not liking the production. ;)

Topic of the Day:  ??  I'm not a specific fan of Mr. Douglas', but I don't think that I've seen an entire movie that he was in. ::)

The Monsoon update: We need to have three consecutive days with a dewpoint average of 55 degrees or higher. We had it Thursday. We had it today. If we have it tomorrow, The Monsoon is officially here.

Truly, it is so miserable here in the summer we watch the dewpoint for something to do. It is a big thing.

Good morning, DRs!

I have managed to make it home safely with Potter 7 without being exposed to any spoilers.  And now I am going into a self-imposed media embargo.

I shall see you all once I've finished it!

Smooches, kids!

Good morning, all!  After a lovely dinner last night with DR Jose, I wandered home, puttered about the apartment and watched the Thursday night episode of BURN NOTICE that I had recorded.  I really ov this series, and last night introduced Wesley's ne'er-do-well brother.

Today I return to Toyland to work on an endless number titled "Harleguinade," so I've been reading a history of British pantomime and Haqrlequinades to prepare myself for the background on the piece. Unfortnately, I have no synopsis of what staging was done to this long piece of music, although I do know that it involved Montgomery & Stone, Harlequin, Columbine, police, and Cinderella's cat Mouser.  After that, I have to deal with the Harry Potter situation - unless (hopefully) Charlotte's copy arrives today before she leaves town for three weeks - and then at 4:45 Iattend a play written by a former co-worker from Barnes & Noble.

Work today, then I shall try the Unseemly Trivia Question for this week.

No rain, but it is overcast today, which is fine by me.

I am also preparing for my audition TOMORROW for "The Sunshine Boys" in which I hope to play Al Lewis....time will tell.
