Then it was over to Grand Central. Through Grand Central. Out of Grand Central... -However, I did pick up some spices and spice blends at Penzey's (more later on that). And then I decided to walk around a part of town I had never really explored before - midtown East.
I ended up walking over to the East Side, and made a stop at the United Nations building. I didn't go in, but I checked out some of the sculptures on the plaza, and they were also walking their security, bomb and drug-sniffing dogs then too - very cute.
And then I did something that I haven't done in a while, but used to do all the time.
When I first started coming up to NYC on a regular basis, my ritual was to either walk and/or drive by Stephen Sondheim's house on the way into the city and on the way out. It actually took me a little trial and error to remember the correct street number, but I did remember the house number and the look of the street. Finally, after realizing that my usual landmark corner was now one big hole in the ground, I got my bearings and did my walk. And I have to say, I still felt as school-girl silly and "afraid" as I did the first time I made the trek almost 20 years ago.
And then I continued a bit further up 3rd Avenue before cutting back across to the West Side. I made a stop at the market for some chicken breasts - I wanted grilled chicken for dinner tonight - and since I had just bought some cool spice rubs at Penzey's, well...
I've already cooked my dinner - and cleaned the grill

, and it was quite yummy. And I have a couple of grilled chicken breast all set for meals later in the week.
