SAFE TRAVEL VIBES, DEAR BK!
It's drizzling here in Pittsburgh, with a 60 % chance of storms now, 40% later.
I'm sitting here like so much fish with a truly serious case of heartburn, well, it's not as bad as it was last night. Last night I sat up reading, in a sitting position, for most of the night (HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS - almost done, now) so I only went into work to set up and let the other Sunday manager work the bar and dining room til 2:30.
I'm gonna try a little light lunch, then finishing watching THE RED SHOES, which I began last night after watching Esther Williams in ON AN ISLAND WITH YOU: an early film study of The Stockholm Syndrome.
Friday night, I had so much fun seeing Pittsburgh CLO's closing production: THE FULL MONTY.
Now, I had never warmed to the OBC recording, but remain a huge fan of the British film, so my expectations weren't high at all. Honestly, I only went because my buddy Donna Lynn Champlin was playing the Annie Golden role. BUT. . .with low expectation, I truly loved what happened on that stage, with very minor complaints (mostly concerning McNally's book). Donna played Vicki with a way over-the-top Buffalo accent, appropriately, she herself is from upstate New York, and her energy level was to die for. Sally Struthers worked the stage, and the full house audience to maximum effect as Jeanette. The guys were very, very good - and I mean this as a compliment - the were all average Joes: James Moye, Todd A. Horman, Milton Craig Nealy, Allen E. Read, Jeremy Webb and (I'm sure that DR elmore has run into) Robert Newman of THE GUIDING LIGHT.
Tonight: the Steelers play. . . not THEATER, they play football!
