Something must be in the air this week... Or maybe I just need to get some "snarkiness" out of my system...

I was just watching my roommate and his boyfriend wash their dinner dishes.  First they squirted a good amount of Palmolive in the pan.  Then they filled the pan with water.  And kept filling it until almost all of the bubbles stopped.  Then they took the scrubber out.  While the water kept running.

Sheesh!  Someone needs to teach you boys how to wash dishes.

-Did I say that out loud?  Yes, I did.  :-\

In any case, I guess since we're not paying for water here...  But still...

I'll apologize once they're back downstairs.

DR Jose ~ Why aren't you at Bukowsical -- I mean -- Bukowskical (you had me going there for a moment thinking I had been typing it wrong all this time -- you're such a tease .. and a purist ... and a pianist) with DR ELmo and his friend Matthew?  Are you going to be able to catch it at some point?  Cason has been raving about it and the cast from day one -- he says it's perfect for the Fringe.  Are you at least meeting the boys for a snack or cookie afterward?

Well, I really want see DR Cason go on.  So... However, with the change in his schedule, I'm not sure that it lines up with mine, so... We'll see.

As for meeting afterwards tonight, well, I think I'm due for a quiet evening at home. Especially after my sojourn along the Hudson River today.

And I had a weird - in a good way - "moment" today...

I was sitting in Columbus Circle by the fountains listening to the first track of Eldar's "re-imagination" CD (via my iPod).  Such a cool track - it switches been 4/4 and 7/4, and he manages to swing and groove even in the odd-meter sections.  Well, after the track was done, I started it again to give it a closer listen.  And as I sat there listening and marveling at the prodigious technique, talent and genius of it all, I started to cry.  And once I realized that some people were looking at me, I stopped crying, but still, I got a bit teary-eyed.

Again, weird, but in a good way.

Just remember, the show is about Charles Bukowski.  So, just add "cal" to the surname plus an exclamation point (!), and you'll be all set.

And correct.  ;)

BJ is flying in on the 22nd, and is leaving early on the 1st - I think his flight is ten-thirty, so he can just head over to the airport with Cason, whenever.  He's on Jet Blue.

DR Jose ~ In case you didn't see it I was going to cut and paste this story on the internet today (but alas, you're aware of my computer-challenged problems) about the conflict with the African dummers and new residents in Harlem.  They're making the drummers (who have been doing this since the 60s) move further into the park because the new folks are complaining about the "noise."  It seems sad that folks move to a place for the character and charm and history, but then not really -- they really want to change stuff to suit themselves ....

Perfect -- we're on Jet Blue, too, and our flight is at 8:45 am.

CL François - Do you happen to know if "La Lectrice" is available on DVD on your side of the Atlantic?

Well, after a quick google check, the dvd doesn't seem available at this time!

You'd better email the producers, et.al -- they've got it wrong on the website and on all their publicity stuff ... ;)

Since Killbot has responded so well to having Summer and Lucy around, we've decided (we'll my roomate is permitting me) to get a kitten. I think it's much easier for her to adapt to a little one than an adult. I decided to go with one of the kittens I had specifically come to look at rather than the others I saw. I picked one of a trio of 12 week old orange tabbies, Tom, Dick, and Harry. I'm not sure which one I picked. The other kittens were younger and more wide eyed in their cuteness, but the one I picked was calmer, up to date in his shots and very socialized. The others were clearly newer rescues. I think this guy will be a good match for Killbot. Here's a link to his webpage:
http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=8927432

at least I think it's his webpage... he could be one of the others, they're very similar in appearance

Harry is a QT

Mr Sondheim's asking:

.. So what can you do on a Saturday night, alone?

DR Jeanne - "Hustle" is indeed a delightful romp with characters you want to see win.  The whole premsise of conning those who deserve it - is great.

I agree. I think the whole show is wonderful--writing, acting, the whole shebang. I have one more episode to go in Season 3 and I'm holding off because I don't want it to be over!

PS I think my favorite character is Danny Blue. He's terrific!

Overheard at the video store the other day:

A man suggests a film to his female companion. She asks, "Does it have subtitles?" He says, "Yeah. You don't want subtitles?" She says, "No. I can't watch it while doing other stuff."

Has concentrating on a movie become obsolete??

Danny is also my favourite character.  I love the fact that show also cons its audience by leaving you hoping and guessing. I suspect it is the only time I've liked Robert V.
