A room with a view and you, with no one to worry us, no one to hurry us
To this dream we found.
We'll gaze at the sky and try to guess what it's all about,
The we will figure out why the world is round.

We'll be as happy and contented as birds upon a tree.
High above the mountains and the sea.
We'll bill and we'll coo and sorrow will never come,
Or will it ever come to our room with a view?

A room with a view and you and no one to give advice.
That sounds a paradise few could fail to choose.
With fingers entwined we'll find relief from the preachers
Who always beseech us to mind our p's and q's.

We'll watch the whole world pass before us while we are sitting still,
Leaning on our own window sill.
We'll bill and we'll coo and maybe a stork will bring this and t'other thing
To our room with a view...

TMZ.com is leaking the names of the apparent celebs who will be on DANCING WITH THE STARS this season.  The official announcement is supposed to be tomorrow morning on GOOD MORNING, AMERICA.

Sooo, I guess, SPOILER ALERT (I have no idea why)

Aaron Carter, Wayne Newton, Mark Cuban (the billionaire), Jane Seymour, Mel B. (?) Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Floyd "Pretty Boy" Mayweather, Jr, Lou Ferrigno, Nia Peeples, Richard Quest (CNN), Gisele Bundchen, Helio Castroneves (race car driver), and Sabrina Bryan.

**They are hedging their bets by saying that some of these celebs will be backups, in case of injury, I guess.

I tried to look at it, but the moon was already so low in the sky -- the ugly buiiding across the street blocked the view.  I love moon eclipses.  :)

DR Julie, I have missed you!  Did you just mention a lunar eclipse?  There's a looney eclipse on this board!

My favourite view is from Waterloo Bridge at night in either direction...one way it's views of the Thames, Houses of Parliament, Charring Cross Station, etc....the other way the Thames, the National Theatre, St. Paul's...

From my folks' home in Northern Kentucky, we have a great view of the Ohio River and downtown Cincinnati.  Lovely at any time, but particularly at night.

TOD

I think my favorite view will always be the one that I used to have from Windows on the World, on the 107th floor of the World Trade Center, especially just before sunset.

And to this desert gal who had never seen autumn leaves before, the sight of a hill with patches of different-colored leaves is breath-taking.

Tuesday morning greetings!  I stayed home today with a "sinus headache," which will permit me to get some in-town errands done and to accompany my aunt, who's having a procedure this morning at the hospital near our home.

TOD - as a self-proclaimed view freak, I didn't hesitate when they asked at the Hyatt hotel in Chicago if I wanted to pay little extra for a room with this view:

I do not have photos of it, but the most breath taking view for me was the continental divide as see via the road from Aspen to Leadville (Home of Molly Brown) I don't think anything has quite matched it.

So has any DR ever had an Orange Julius?  We don't have them on the East coast.  I've found some recipes on the Web, but the idea of mixing orange juice and milk seems a little weird...   :-\

Good morning!

Another day with a high of 90. No relief until Saturday according to the forecast, but 90 is still better than the 100+ temperature days we had last week.

That SWEENEY TODD ad is VERY effective, I think. I'm sure Tim Burton will capture the mood and tone of the piece. My only concern is if the actors he has cast can handle the singing if they haven't been dubbed. (And publicity insists they aren't going to be dubbed.) If they can sing the score, one of the true masterpieces of the American musical theater, it should be a sensational film.

But I don't think it will make a dime. (What's the budget anyway?)

I have a Disney made-for-video animated film to watch this afternoon, but it's less than an hour, so I should still have time to watch that BEHIND THE SCREEN film with Charlie Chan's first appearance (I don't think he's the lead detective in the movie.)

DAMAGES isn't on tonight since FX is showing THE AVIATOR, a long movie even without commercials, so I'll be able to devote the evening completely to DVDs.

Has BK's close and personal friend, Stephen Sondheim ever  spoken publicly regarding the casting, or Tim Burton, or the film, at all?

I did skim through yesterday's AS THE WORLD TURNS. The gay storyline wasn't there, and it wasn't shown in the previews for today either.

Good question. I think he did speak shortly after casting was announced, and as I recall he was positive about it.

But at the time he said positive things about Elizabeth Taylor's "singing" of "Send in the Clowns," too.

I feel bad for Miss South Carolina. How sad to be under a great deal of pressure, give a dumb answer, and have it reported over and over again on the news just to be laughed at.

One-fifth of Americans cannot find the United States on a world map? Who are they asking? Even Mae-Ling showed me where she lived (pretty close, anyway) on the globe, and she was only four at the time.

YES, YES, YES! Orange Julius used to be quite common in California. But milk? The ones I had were mixed with some white powder (hum...)--did that have milk in it? Sometimes a rag egg is added. Many years ago my standard blender brekkie was fresh-squeezed OJ with a raw egg. Doesn't appeal to me now, but it gave me lots of energy then.

I'm afraid the allergy season has begun for me, too, DR SingDaw, which is no bueno as I was planning to attend a couple of auditions today. Seeing how I cannot breathe through my right nostril, I cannot see how that will be possible today.

MY RIGHT NOSTRIL - that's the name of my next book.

I did my workout, again to Jason Graae, and feel virtuous--or, as DR ELMORE put it, "I have virtue."

RE: BIG BROTHER and Amber.

I agree I think her comments have been mostly due to ignorance and not malice.  But I do think that since she made those comments her popularity has been down to like 0.5% or something.  I can't remember if she has been on eric's eviction card (i don't think so since she was taken off the block). But she was the choice to get nominated this week and last week.

I have to say that this statistic would not surprise me. I used to be astounded when I'd get good students who didn't have a clue about general world geography. And for average and poor students, they could not seem to differentiate between a city name, a state name, or a country name. I might ask "What is the capital city of France?" and someone would answer "Spain."

Even though I was an English teacher, I kept pull down maps all over my classroom, and we NEVER read a story that had a specific setting that I didn't pull down a map and talk about where things were happening.

I don't tthink tori spelling and jennie garth would both me on. I believe i had heard that jennie wanted to be on. I also heard wayne newton.

I think gisele would probably be super popular and they should probably just give her the prize.

I am anxious to hear the real cast tomorrow. Should be interesting.

For all of you suffering from the ragweed that just came out, there's an over-the-counter sinus formula that I used very successfully for many, many years. It's by Natra-Bio, it's called simply SINUS, and it's available at many health food stores for $8 or $9. It's a homeopathic product, so there are virtually no side-effects. (I had to stop taking both the prescription and nonprescription allergy drugs due to the side-effects, so I was thrilled to find this and have so much help from it.) Highly recommended.
