Quote from Vixmom yesterday:
Quote
Tonight I was invited to be part of a focus group.

We watched 4 TV spots, saw 5 print ads and heard one radio commercial and then discussed it all

There were 6 of us all ladies together and the moderator.. we had a really fun time and were paid $75  and given a free product as well

Now let me see if I understand this Vixmom.  There were six ladies... and you?

We will watch The Vicar of Dibley this evening after laundry and dinner.

I will be in the office tomorrow.

Anthony is working on a dance piece with his teacher and he has a rehearsal tomorrow afternoon.

Anthony also has an engagement Sunday afternoon and while he engages I will try to get over to the East Side (I need to find my passport and fill out the proper forms) to see the TheatreMania block of the Street Fair.

Bruce, although those sausage and pepper sandwiches may look and smell good, be warned, IMHO (in my humble opinion) they are not as good as they look. Just an opinion from an old New Yorker.

Do you know an old New Yorker?

Actually, I have to ask if vixmom interviewed each of the other five to determine if all were ladies.

Debra would, of course, qualify!

DR Elmore - thanks for asking.  Richard is on the phone with her right now, after already talking with one of her doctors.  She has an intestinal obstruction that, if it doesn't respond to treatment over the weekend, will require surgery.  A very risky proposition for a 90-year-old woman with a bad heart.  Heavy HHW vibes will be appreciated.

Health vibes to Ginny's mother-in-law!

Show went very well last night, thanks for the vibes from HHW!!!

The audience was very enthusiastic and was laughing from the opening of the play - thank you, Neil Simon.

Of course, the phone DIDN'T ring when it was supposed to...."Ben" didn't hang it up properly and since it's a practical.....no ring....but everything else was fine!!!

And the reception afterwards was most enjoyable.  Even though people wanted to take tours of the dressing rooms while we were still changing our clothes.

And who is the young hottie in the photo (well, young next to us Jrand)?

The show is called "Don't Tell Walt,"

I don't think Walt would have approved of Bill's beard ;D

If the show comes to Ashland I will try to see it.

Thanks!  My hair is actually quite long in this picture.  I just kind of brushed it behind my ears with my fingers.  It had been more than eight months since my last haircut!

Nice to see your face, DR ARNOLDM. (But I reserve the right to hide mine.)  :)

GEORGE, in all your avatars you look smiling and friendly.

Good afternoon, or is it evening? I left the office a little early, I still wasn't feeling up to par.  I also had to deal with a water issue...we had over an inch of rain in 20 minutes! (I knew it was a lot but didn't realize it was that much that fast until I saw the news) anyway, the water came into the room I had been working on downstairs just as it apparently had in the past.   It was a good thing, actually, now I know exactly where it came in so I can do what I need to do to fix it. The room is currently nothing but cement on the floor and walls, so it didn't hurt anything.  The water came in under the sliding glass door and ran through the room under the door in the house and into the hallway.

I have always hated the old carpet in that hallway - brown and beige plaid - it looked like a flanel shirt!  So when I came home, instead of trying to dry it....I tore it out.  Luckily it wasn't glued to the cement floor so it wasn't too hard to get out.  In the process I was once again glowing like crazy.   After a cool down and a rest, I am feeling much better.

I hope this doesn't mean every time I feel bad I should tear out some carpet...I think I only have wall to wall carpet left in 3 rooms and the basement stairs!

Oh sure, it must have been the mac and cheese.  It certainly wouldn't have been the CATFISH PO'BOY!

What will you replace the carpet with, that won't get ruined in the rain?

It's just been announced that Madeleine L'Engle has died.

 :'(

Thank you for the link.  I hadn't realized how many of her books I haven't read.  When Bryan was young he introduced me to Wrinkle in Time, which to me wasn't just a children's book.

I already need them---and knee healing, too!

But my Dad needs them more---he is in the hospital for a brief stay so I'm running around like a crazy person. (Crazier than usual, anyway...)

And I'm on call for work so I keep checking my email...argh.

Hospital vibes to Amy's Dad!

The audience loved it -- laughing at all the right places, and then some -- and responding to all the musical numbers -- actually cheering at the end of "Girl Next Door."  I was resetting props, so got down to the reception a little later, but the managing director was telling me everyone came in raving about it.  No one asked to tour our dressing rooms, but our cast went to the reception in costume and the one lead ends the play in his boxers, so he went to the reception in those with his tool belt strappped on so I guess that appeased the crowd....

Depends on what he looks like.

I may tile the room or just do some fun floor paint - my sister-in-law painted theirs to look like cobblestones - and use area rugs.  I just won't use carpet.  I'll also try to seal up the leaks so it doesn't matter

OH! That's the problem, I've been tearing a rug when I should be cutting one...

I think it stinks that Legally Blonde is going to be broadcast on TV during it's Broadway run.  It makes me feel a little ripped off knowing that we are paying for tickets to something we could have watched on TV.   Ok, I know the real thing is a better experience, but we could have seen something else and then watched Legally Blonde on tv.   Especially since Playbill says it will be broadcast in late September, the same time we're seeing it in person.

On the otherhand, I love when shows are broadcast after their Broadway run for those who can't get to New York to see them

Cilla, fun floor paint sounds like fun.  Whatever you do, don't have a slippery when wet floor.

No, I definitely wouldn't do that. The hallway leads to the only bathroom with a full sized shower, so even if the floor is dry, feet could be wet.  You can get paint that has texture so it isn't so slippery.

Yep, for about a week there I thought I had stumbled onto some medical/doctor site -- it's a rite of passage for all newbies, I think ....

You thought that even though you had already met elmore???
