I watched NBC's "The Biggest Loser" last night.
It was a quick two hours (premiere show) and has some interesting competitors. There seem to be more "larger" individuals than in seasons past, although not "that much" larger. Two of the guys topped 400 pounds in the initial weigh-in, but results after one week saw both drop below that. Several women were at or over 300 pounds.
It should be an interesting season, especially since there will be THREE (count 'em THREE) teams. The Red and Blue teams know nothing about the Black team (headed by original female trainer Jillian). The Black team will join the other two in next week's show. It should create quite a stir.
The Blue team won the weigh-in and the Red team had to evict someone. They picked EXACTLY the right person to go.
Bless her heart, she was the heaviest female in the competition. She lost 7 pounds, but should have lost more. It was clear she was weighing her team down (so to speak) because she just wasn't likely to drop the weight she needed to in order to offset her starting weight's contributions to their overall body fat (which is how the winner each week is determined -- combined loss of weight converted to body fat percentage). Add to that her attitude during the first week, including her overstated desire to quite and go home after the first workout, they were all tired of her ass.
Her team now has a chance to be more competitive, IMO.
