Ah, at the Alex Theater - an old vaudeville-early movie theater, now a landmark theater!! Glendale isn't so far off the beaten track. Tix are way pricey - maybe I'll get one of the Balcony tix for $25.

My family is from Montreal and I come once a year to visit the relatives.  In the late 50's my parents immigrated to Los Angeles and I arrived during the early 60's.  :)  Actually Mom is from Montreal and Dad's family came to Montreal via Italy.

I think I remember a documentary, maybe about Fair Lady, and her ire at not being allowed to perform the songs, but being dubbed by Marni Nixon. She was not a happy camper...

I know Leslie Caron was NOT happy at all that they did not use her singing for Gigi!

I don't think Audrey minded much; the last reissue of Fair Lady soundtrack (cd) has her singing for Lady... and it's not too great either!

She was beautiful but I always found her quite skinny! "Salt" & "pepper, if you see what I mean, right at the base of her neck!

It is for the alumni foundation at LACC...

(I hope I have that correct)

No, that's the other benefit he is helping with (it's a Jerry Goldsmith themed event).

His event is for Los Angeles City College Theatre Alumni & Associates, a non-profit organization representing Los Angeles City College's Theatre Academy (and is a Menken/Schwartz themed event)

No, I was searching the history of posts to find out benefit info for you. (But the Alex link sums it all up nicely)

td, don't get mad at me, but I think that Audrey's singing in FUNNY FACE is just terrible! Granted, the song is hard to sing but still... She obviously was no singer!

Next to Betty Buckley's performance on the S.T.A.G.E benefit, Audrey's is the ONLY version I like. . .
And I like Audrey's because it's sung as a character, her discovery and her journey with that voice are, IMHO, simply perfection.

TD, I respect your opinoin but respectfully disagree.

I just feel it is not one of her stronger roles.
