It hasn't been Hump Day for me in quite some time, Dear Reader TCB, though I appreciate the thought.

 ;)

Perhaps, Jay and Jed, we should Michael Shayne's suggestion and try our luck with camels.  I like

ARTHUR:
Each evening, from December to December,
Before you drift to sleep upon your cot,
Think back on all the tales that you remember
Of Camelot.
Ask ev'ry person if he's heard the story,
And tell it strong and clear if he has not,
That once there was a fleeting wisp of glory
Called Camelot.
Camelot! Camelot!
Now say it out with pride and joy!

TOM:
Camelot! Camelot!

ARTHUR:
Yes, Camelot, my boy!
Where once it never rained till after sundown,
By eight a.m. the morning fog had flown...
Don't let it be forgot
That once there was a spot
For one brief shining moment that was known
As Camelot.

Ah, I see MattH!  Turning a non-musical into a musical is not considered a remake, even though they call it a remake, and that is considered acceptable.  That must be what made Lost Horizon - The Musical is such a great film! :D

Well, if it weren't for the inventiveness of taking plays/books, screenplays and turning them into musicals, you certainly wouldn't have had two of your biggest hits: OLIVER! and HELLO, DOLLY!

Sorry you can't see the difference.

Huh?

I believe a fellow by the name of Shaw, were he still alive, might have some dispute with that notion.

The community theater here in Charlotte used to do pre-audition workshops, particularly if the musical auditioning had heavy dance requirements (A CHORUS LINE, PIPPIN, CHICAGO, WEST SIDE STORY are the ones I remember). The choreographer or the assistant would teach the different dance combinations to those interested and that would give you a week to perfect them before auditioning for the show. Usually sides weren't distributed but the director would talk about the various characters and what he was looking for. The music director would advise what NOT to sing for auditions - I remember specifically being told NOT to sing anything from PHANTOM or LES MIZ for the PIPPIN audition. (I think they were really tired of hearing "On My Own" and "MUsic of the Night.")

I was sorry when they stopped doing those preaudition workshops. Took a lot of pressure off those dance auditions.

I understand they are writing a book based on the musical The Apple Tree.

From Carl Reiner's interview with Mel Brooks' 2-minute-old baby:

"I think my mother liked to read a lot while I was in there.  There were all these heavy books on her belly and it got kind of cramped."

Reiner: "Is that a birthmark on your forehead?"

"No, it's a bookmark."

I figured they were watching the documentary SPELLBOUND about the national spelling competition.

Does this movie use it as SPELLBOUND (one word) or SPELL BOUND (two words)?

Li'l baby - all of thirteen - Minx received a most beauteous decorative plate from DR Michael Shayne today.  It depicts a Native American and his Wolf Spirit; you see, Minx thinks that wolves are her sisters and her brothers, so she was quite taken with the plate.  Of course, she is going to let me display it prominently . . .Minx says, "Thank you, MDS;" an emotion which I previously shared in private.

Well, blow me over with a pickle if we didn't pass 22,000 posts without even knowing it.

If I were given ten minutes on national television to say whatever I wanted?  Well, that's a toughie, because if I railed against the one thing in our country I really abhor, income taxes, everyone would agree and no one would do anything about it.  So, I'd just wish everyone Godspeed who deserves it and wish everyone who is evil a good swift kick in the pants or a speedy end.
