Dear BK: What, if anything, are you planning to do on Super Bowl Sunday?

(Not to be confused with Supper Bowl Sunday, because you recently told us about your adventures with pasta.)

I'm here! I was watching an American Theatre Wing seminar video. It's quite interesting and beneficial to those looking for new ideas and techniques from established actors, in my opinion.

DR Joy, break a leg with the audition!

DR Jay, best of luck with the interview!

DR Danise, feel better soon!

Good, happy vibes to all of you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Welcome to VinTek and Dave in the Valley! Hi again, TCB!

The transportation methods:
Fire engine? no
Police car? no
Limo? yes (prom)
Submarine? yes (My dad was a nuclear physicist on the subs in the Navy after graduating from the Naval Academy)
NYC cabs? yes (haha Uncle Woody :))

American Idol: Ok, my "boss" and I were discussing it, and it really doesn't seem like there is any criteria for which Randy, Paula, and Simon look. Everything is so subjective in this competition. I personally think Air Force girl was good last night, and a few who got through did not seem that great to me.

...I had more about that, but I can't remember it all. Ugh, computers frustrate me.

Sarah, it's capital. The Capitol is a building. Oh, and yes, I know "Fifty Nifty United States." We sang it in...fifth grade, I think.

Btw, BK, sorry about the WGA thing. I can see how that can be frustrating and make you think, "What if?" Also, random moment. I brought up your name with my "boss" today, and he wanted to know if you played Larry on Three's Company. I suppose that is my question of the day.

More on American Idol:

I said: Ok, my "boss" and I were discussing it, and it really doesn't seem like there is any criteria for which Randy, Paula, and Simon look. Everything is so subjective in this competition. I personally think Air Force girl was good last night, and a few who got through did not seem that great to me.

(continuation) Regarding people's abilities and their appearances on the first few shows: The American Idol producers know that the majority of their viewers love to watch people embarrass themselves. (Especially since this is a FOX show. :)) One must wonder how many of these hopefuls truly believe they have what it takes to sing for a living. It appeared fairly obvious to me that Flashdance girl and her friend were putting on an act to get their fifteen minutes of fame. I truly hope these people aren't so deluded that they really have no idea that there's no chance. Unfortunately, there are people in the world who will take advantage of hopefuls. Some of these instructors and "friends" are in it for the money. Also, there are "friends" who are too timid to tell a person the truth. Overall, some people waste a great deal of time and money to no avail, and it truly is sad. (I hope everyone knows I'm not trying to be mean. This is just my opinion. I really think a lot of these people on American Idol audition for kicks, just to be on TV. If they have gumption and truly feel they have a chance, though, more power to them. May they audition and succeed!)

Two final things:
~The guy who sang to/attempted to seduce Paula seemed to get through on that only. (Oh, and it always makes me laugh when Paula starts advising on technique. I guess I don't take her seriously because she is sometimes too nice--this may give people false hope for the future.)
~I truly felt bad for the guy who cried after his (ghastly) audition using "Sweet Home Alabama." He seemed really sweet, and he beat up on himself rather than the judges. (That's more than most contestants can say.) I hope he's found something to make him happy now. Also, he was really cute. I'd SO date him! :)

I plan to do anything but watch football on Superbowl Sunday.  Perhaps I'll have a Superbowl of Pasta.

I did not play "Larry" on Three's Company.  I did audition for Three's Company quite often, just never got one.  Tell your boss to think "Partridge Family".

Up late again.  Actually just got home.  A few friends and I caught a late night showing of Something's Gotta Give.  Not one I expected to go see, but they were going, so I figured I'd tag along.  Not a bad movie, really.  Dragged along a bit too long I'd say.  We knew what was going to happen, we didn't need the "will they?  won't they?" drama for that long.  But Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson were both at their best.  Although I have to say I NEVER want to see Jack Nicholson's bare ass again as long as I live.  It is a brave brave man who will run naked down a hospital hallway with his gown flapping open and his butt cheeks a-jiggling.
Okay, enough of that, I might spoil Tomovoz's dinner.
Can I just say that Defying Gravity has become a permanent fixture in my brain?  I just can't seem to shake the song.  I really need to get the whole CD...I hate downloading more than one or two songs.
Oh, for anyone who has the CD, did anyone else notice that the last chord of DG is horribly out of tune in the women?  Or was it just me...
DR Jed - here's a funny for you...I dreamt last night that my car broke down and was very relieved to find it running fine this morning. :)
American Idol and SOTU speech...I think I'll keep my opinions quiet, although in general I agree with everything that's been said.
Enough rambling...sleepy time (I hope)

Never fear DR ANN.  It takes a lot to put me off my dinner. (Your President's speech might have done it!).

My favourite Nicholson performance may well be in "About Schmidt" where he plays against "type".

Good Morning All (and of course sundried).

Oh dear.....no WGA nomination and problems with HHW'ers.  And I slept through it all!

Sad that people sometimes go.  I know how they feel.  Wonderful that they come back - ditto.

And now....ADK BK day!  Let me think about that on the drive to work.

DRPANNI - as another DR wrote...that was an eerie story.  :-X

MR BK - what is the best celebrity "autobiography" you have read - ghostwritten or not?

What is the most delusional "autobiography?"

What is the best celebrity biography you have read?

Hello, DRs. No questions for BK but I will post another London picture.

Our dear friends, Catherine and Maurice (we visited them in Gedling, a small village outside of Nottingham) gave us a Christmas card with a tree on the front along with some gifts. We suddenly had a Christmas tree and presents to put under it! We had our Santa hats as well and we managed to scoop up some of the metallic confetti used in Chitty so we had a very festive scene on Christmas eve. See the picture for evidence.

And congratulations to DRNOEL on his win with the trivia question!  *sigh*  :'(

Good morning. Actually, it's too early to be up, so I'm going back to bed - but first have to tell Pa to put that old shotgun away. TCB and I were just sittin' on the porch, lookin' at the moon and talkin' 'bout geography - a favorite Canadian-American topic.

"THE UNSEEMLY BUTTO" sounds like a really bad magician or really bad porn star.   Maybe a bad pornstar magician (now you see it; now you don't)

On to the topic of the day.  I may have asked this before, and the answer may even be in the liner notes, but did you, BK, write the added material for Liz Callaway's version of "Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair"?

Ben and Ant's Christmas tableau made me smile.

DR MattH wrote about American Idol:
Quote
I laughed at the awfulness of some of them, but most of them I just felt embarrassed and mortified for. How can they possibly think they have talent? That they could actually compete in a competition with people who do know what notes are, what pitch is, and what rhythm is.

Okay I agree these people should know they are bad. And I still maintain IT'S TOO MUCH, I don't need to say THAT MANY bad people.

But I still maintain the reason why these people are shocked that they are bad is because THEY JUST MADE IT THROUGH 5 ROUNDS to sing in front of Paula/Randy/Simon. Who knows what kind of encouragement the other rounds of judges are giving them. After progressing through 5 rounds, wouldn't you believe that you were good? (since so very few people get to perform for the judges).

DR Jay commented last night that most Americans probably couldn't say whether Canada was North or South of the US.

I'm betting 99% of Americans couldn't tell me who the Prime Minister of Canada is (although that is somewhat of a trick question).

You just got a new Prime Minister, Miss Jennifer, and his name is Paul Martin. He took over recently, I believe after Monsieur Jean Chretien. That's what you mean about the trick question, right? Does Chretien have any accent marks (ague or grave if I remember correctly from 9th-12 grade French)?

I am approaching  600 posts. In honor of the occasion, I will post another England picture.

This is at the Tower of London where a great deal of armour is on display, including this very piece. I hope you can read the caption Anthony added.

It's a bit fuzzy but the size of the armour is 6ft 9in (and I'm 5ft 3in). The caption says (pointing to the 6ft 9in):

"Ye must be this tall to ridest this ride. Ye Management"

Yes that is what I meant about trick question.  A new Prime Minister without an election.

Yeah, I think he has an accent ague on the first "e".

World geography was my favorite subject in school, however...but alas I did not know your prime minister Jennifer  :-\

I can remember always asking my 5th/6th grade teacher, Mrs. DeArmond, what country we would be studying next...I just couldn't wait...we never did study Canada to my knowledge!

Ok, I am glad all things are back as they should be...I just like that everyone should be happy.

I have had no coffee yet, so I am not sure that this post has made any sense.

Please forgive me for forgetting to post the Christopher Meloni picture of the week. It hit me in the middle of the night that I hadn't done it. Unfortunately, I'm not at the scanner (upstairs) at the moment, but I will have it scanned in for those who want a look-see later.

Hint: it's a pic from his hit series OZ on HBO. I hope it will be worth the wait.

Congratulations DR Noel on your trivia contest victory. Cheers!
