Poor DR Ginny spends her days baby-sitting the aliterates who congregate for the creature-comforts of her library.

Now, I must head down to get ready to go do my civic duty and vote in our local elections (mayor, city council, some various bond issues).

My mighty super Steve has come, fixed the bathroom sink, stopped the deluge and gone.  That's one distressing epsiode off my back!

DR Jose, did your ears burn last night?

And, of course, now that I'm back from the gym, still no sign of the handyman, my repaired window nor the building supervisor.  Nor a call or voicemail from either of them either.  :-\

One down... And just how many more to go?  ;)

As for my burning ears... Would that have been a "good burn" or a "bad burn"?

Well... Time for me get cleaned up and head in for today's callbacks - which technically started at 10:00, but... They will be starting at 11:30.  And should be over by 1:00-ish.  HOO and RAY!  Which leaves plenty of time for me to catch up on the DVR before seeing Rent tonight.  -For only the second time in five years.

DR MBARNUM and DR GEORGE:

re: your questions about DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES not TIVOing or DVRing.

I wonder if your system works the same as mine. When you selected the show to record every week. Did you select "same time, same day". Because on my system if you do that then it will only record if it is from 9pm to 10Pm. This week they changed it to end at 10:01pm.  So on my system you have to select (record at all times, all days) for it to work.

Also on my system there is a way to double check if it will record (you go to the program menu and see if it is lit up in red).

DR DakotaCelt i'm curious if the info you provided yesterday re: the soaps and the strike will end up being true (you seemed to think they could be on the air for 1-2 months).

I have heard a few reports (last night) that soaps would be the first to go (next week).

The one i am interested in is Y&R. If you get any info please post it. Thanks for your help.

Greetings all you dear, wonderful HHWers!  Remember me? ... No?! ...Well, that's okay,  I've been most E and T, and I'm about to be again -- but I had to check in and read the report about last night's gala. I meant to check in yesterday with some "break a leg" vibes but the day and evening got away from me -- but it sounds like BK and Company got 'er done just fine.  Yaaa-aayyy!! Way to go!!

RE: last night's DANCING WITH THE STARS.

I will be so curious to see who is B2 this week.  I am guessing Cameron and Jennie Garth.  But it is so hard to predict.

I actually loved a bunch of performances last night.

Surprisingly (i have been very hard on marie osmond). But i thought her first number was incredible (how much weight has she lost, she looks good).  I also really liked cameron's 2nd number (jive).

I still like helio and julianne best.

I thought marie's 2nd number was the weakest of the night.

I loved loved loved Mel's 2nd number (in that hot black outfit). But didn't really like the first. She is really a good dancer, and probably should not have been on the show (since it does not seem like it takes much effort for her to learn the dances or do well).

I think jane was probably the weakest last night.

And i just can't believe how good marie was in that first number.

Elmore - huzzah that the plumbing issue is solved with alacrity. You are always in my heart.

And HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to cast and machers of last night's extravaganza! Lovely to read a rave instead of a rant, I tell ya!

Whelp, mini-frenzy over. Gotta go be E and T again. My required presentation must be given at this weekend's colloquium -- plus a study packet deadline is looming on the horizon.  October was nuts -- DR JRand, I hope Uranus is out of retrograde so things can settle down this month!

Okay, homework on these financials (never my strong suit) before I talk to the board prez later today. Sheesh - they never just give you the paycheck; you always have to actually be there accomplishing something. Hard to reconcile my love of being unemployed with my need to get some remunerative work as soon as possible... oy.

Maybe when i explain that my first act would be to slash all peripheral programs not directly related to the stated mission, and the second would be to take some fairly drastic economic measures - they'll just decide I'm not their guy...

Got back from voting in record time. There was no line. Only one other person was at a machine voting when I got there. There was no one voting when I finished. The whole trip took maybe 20 minutes.

I did have time this morning to clean the living room. Glad to have that out of the way so I can spend the rest of the day viewing assorted programs.
