MattH, I'm not sure I remembered it was Mandelbaum who got you here.  And where is Ken today?

I don't have a clue. I've sent out inquiries and no one seems to know.

I was directed to this here website by DR JRand and former DR DenMother. I liked it and stayed!

I have met some of the most fantastic people via HHW, and many that I consider dear friends!

And if it weren't for HHW I would likely never have thought to vacation in NYC nor watch a Bollywood film! Nor would I have ever had Rupert Holmes call me on my cell phone and apologize for a missing reserve seat ticket!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY HAINESHISWAY.COM!!!

It's been a great six years, and I look forward to many more.  As others have mentioned, this place just abounds with friendship.  And trust.  Heck, I still don't think it's strange that when I went to Australia a few years ago, I had no problem meeting and be hosted by DRs Tomovoz and Colin (and DDs Magnus and Fosca) when I was in Melbourne.  And that was the first time we had ever met in person.  Additionally, when I went out to Los Angeles to work on What If?, a certain former DR also graciously agreed to put me up for a weeks while I was out there. Of course, when I would try to explain to people the situation... -You met them on the internet?!?!?  Well... Yes, I did!  :)

And, yes, this site has even provided me with a bit of work from time to time not only through our very own BK, but also through various recommendations and leads from DRs and even a lurker or two.

Yes, it's not always smooth sailing here, but what Family doesn't have it's ups and downs from time to time.

And I still don't really recall just how I came over to HHW.  However, I know I was originally on the "brown board" for a while before we changed formats. So... I'm guessing I saw a banner ad over at Sondheim.com, or I was Googling for some show/performer information.

Roasted mules.

I am intrigued.

Loved hearing MR BK's thoughts on Ira Levin (who once dated the mother of DR NOEL).

In other news...

Yes, I am flying down to Florida this afternoon.  Well, actually, I'm being flown down to Florida courtesy of the Disney Cruise Lines.  I got a call from them about an hour ago, and it turns out they need a pianist for a Broadway workshop that they are doing on the Disney Wonder this weekend.  And the real cool thing is is that the workshop just takes place for two days, five hours each day, but the cruise last four days!  V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N!  -And I have to say, that it's coming at the perfect time for me.  So...

I need to spend the next couple of hours getting things ready, so if I'm errant and truant for the rest of the day.... and during the coming weekend... That's why. :)

I really like the Robert Wagner movie version of A KISS BEFORE DYING if only because Joanne Woodward has a spectacular demise!

Happy Anniversary to HHW!

I was directed here by DR JMK - who I met through EBAY and the Frances Farmer Tribute Site at - http://www.geocities.com/~themistyone/

TOD:

I was posting at rec.music.movies (or was that rec.movies.music?).

It was the day after the Oscars when "A Beautiful Mind" had won the Oscar.  I made an off-the-cuff remark about having been amazed to learn that Brian Grazer (co-producer) was a "straight man" because, during his acceptance speech, his wrists were flapping so hard he could have lifted off with a good headwind.

I was immediately attacked by one Robert John Guttke (who thought he owned the list and all thought posted to it) who declared I was a homophobe and had to be shunned.

BK popped up, gave Guttke a little slap, and invited me to post any and all views I had about the Oscars to this here forum.  Thus it was.....

Thankfully(?), due to a recent(!) change in format and venue for Thommie Walsh's memorial (another casualty, so to speak, of the ongoing strike), I am not playing for the service this Friday.  I was asked to be the "swingboy" pianist, but Baayork will have more than enough coverage when it comes to pianists.  Yes, I am a bit "conflicted" about not being there this Friday, but I still feel honored to have been asked to be a part of the planning, and I also know that Baayork is (still) in good hands, literally.

Love the Oscar and Tony parties here at HHW - and I can't say how many CD's and DVD's I have purchased because of recommendations from other DRs.

And of course having signed copies of many BK items is fun.

I have met a few fellow HHW'ers in person including DRJOSE, DR GINNY and DH RICHARD and DS ROB, DR JOEY, DR RODZINSKI and DR TPUNK who introduced me to their friend Matthew who is now a friend and customer at World of Wisdom.
