And I guess I should log off and shut down...  I'm not sure if I'll have internet access on board ship, but, if I do, I'll try my best to check in.  Otherwise, I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend.

And then I must write my self-evaluation for the folly of Performance Evaluations, a time-wasting effort in corporate silliness that is repeated year after year.

Performance evaluations are the subject for the 10 ITEMS OR LESS skits I edited last week. I'll post a link to the tbs website when they're up. You might find them funny!

I'm sure I will. My view of performance evaluations is not understood by the folks in Personnel. They don't understand why I don't enjoy taking 2 or more hours out of my work schedule to fill out silly forms and find different ways to pat myself on the back. The Office Lives!

Regarding JLS, you did notice Leslie Parrish's credit on the film, didn't you, BK?

You write your own performance evaluation?  Do you get to determine your own raise as well?

I wish. No, I have to do this "self-evaluation" (it's a tightly structured form with check boxes and some room for written exposition) and give it to my supervisor. She then gives me her evaluation of me and then we go into a room and "discuss"

Ben - Here, our evaluations are done the same way, except that it's electronic and more involved.  We have to submit it to up to five colleagues for critique and comment before it goes back to the boss.

To say that it is one of my most dreaded annual tasks is an understatement!

Hi everyone.

Just wanted to touch base and let you know that I'm doing ok.  You didn't know it but the day after I got home from my trip, I had to go into the hospital for another surgery.  I didn't want to worry anyone.  You know I've been seeing the chropractor quite a bit these past couple of months.

It was discovered that I have arthritis in my back.  Not so bad--yet but if I didn't take care of things now it would have gotten worse as time went on.

Everything went fine.  I am at Thelma's until tomorrow when I have to go home because the dogs will be coming home from the kennel.  I had to find a place that could deliver them because I won't be able to drive for at least the next two weeks.

I hope that DR Elmore isn't having such a bad time.

td, it was wonderful to meet you!  Jane emailed the house listing you sent.  I liked it but I didn't see a fenced in yard for the dogs.  That would be a must.   :)

I hate it when I have to do my self eval.  What a pain.  Do they really think you are going to be crazy enough to say you are anything but perfect?

Thursday morning greetings!  It's payday and I'm about to make my coworkers very happy by serving them the leftover refreshments from last night's program.

Recuperation vibes for DR Danise!

Ah, yes, performance evaluations.  Hated doing them when I was a manager and hate having them done to me, especially by bosses who haven't been alive as long as I've been a member of the American Library Association.  Someday, I will look back "fondly" on these past 10 years as my Dilbert Days.

DR Danise - glad to know that you are OK and that everything went well!  At last we understand your cryptic remark last week about the dogs going BACK to the kennel after you had already returned from traveling!

Curses, foiled again!  Am I EVER going to see snow?!

I realized I'd slipped up after I posted about the dogs.   :-\

No, but it certainly could make you feel "gymnastic"

Good morning!

We had our first rain in over a month during the night, but things seem to be clearing a bit and it's getting very breezy outside.

I like THE LOST WEEKEND and I love THE DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES which I find haunting.

Dick Van Dyke did a memorable TV-movie called THE MORNING AFTER about alcoholism.

Today I'll attempt to watch SVU, LIFE, and CSI: NY which I've recorded this week.

I must begin SAWDUST AND TINSEL, an upcoming Criterion release, today. It's an early Ingmar Bergman movie that I've never seen.

On tap tonight, WOMEN'S MURDER CLUB moves for one night to the 10 p.m. slot behind GREY'S ANATOMY. I'll bet if the ratings go through the roof, ABC will think about moving it permanently to this slot.

To say that it is one of my most dreaded annual tasks is an understatement!

I've watched my clients go through this at Turner. I usually work with their bosses, and the dread it as much as the producers because they're all friends as well.

This is one of the many reasons I am self-employed.

Hmmm...how has my performance been this year?

Belated vibes to Danise and her back!!

I, too, wondered about the dogs going back to the kennel but figured I'd missed a post.
