Well, you've read the notes, the notes felt like a meatball sandwich, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they'd like a MOOtball sandwich.

On Saturday, I went to Subway and I almost had a meatball sub...but I didn't.  That would've been weird if I'd had the meatball sub and then BK talked about it today. ;)

the new safari (3.0 oooh) annoys me, it has a lot of little quirks and reminds me of things that I don't need reminding about. Plus my g-mail no longer auto completes in safari....

Horses etc!

I loved "La Vie En Rose". I hope you did not watch the English language version.  I imagine Piaf's life story is so well known by the French that a linear narrative would seem somewhat dull.  IMHO a great film.

DR td may have enjoyed he Swedish version more.

Can't go better than a good old-fashioned English Bacon Sandwich.

I'm listening to Ramsey Lewis' The In Crowd - prior to that was Hubert Laws' Afro Classic.

Were you thrilled, BK, by the Varese Club title announcements?

I was excited to see "The Tall Men" and "By Love Possessed."

That said, I'm going to post my true feelings about the latest batch of Club titles here in this forum, away from the slings and arrows at FSM.  I'm delighted for any and all who are thrilled by all the releases, but I have to say I found this pre-Christmas slate disappointing.

It's sad to me that for the first time in Club history I've not wanted to buy all the releases.  I'm not a big fan of Conti, and I thought "Neighbors" a terrible film.

"Magic Fire" was tempting...but not must-have in light of so many other wonderful things being released by other labels.  This one is truly a "curiousity item" as it's Richard Wagner arranged and conducted by Erich Wolfgang Korngold.  I may regret not ordering it.  Time will tell.

Finally, I can't help feeling just the slightest bit...well...insulted...that a re-recording of a score already well-represented (and definitively, too, to my ears) is being offered as a club release.  I am not buying any more versions of "North By Northwest" (or "Vertigo," for that matter), as I have several (of each), including the expanded soundtrack recording.

So, I've saved money, and I'm getting the Victor Young and Elmer Bernstein scores.  But the joy of that is tempered by a general feeling of enormous "let-down" because I seem to have lost my enthusiasm over what was rather special and fun for such a long time.

I knew about the Fox titles, but not about the others.  I'll have to go read about them.

I went back to the site and listened to a couple of samples of "Magic Fire" (brilliant stuff, even if it's mono).

The write-up indicates George Korngold wrote the notes, apparently years ago.  This was the first release of the score, though.

And now I've ordered it.  I'm a sucker for sentimentality.

It's an odd batch.  I'll probably get the North By Northwest just to have it - I automatically get the Fox titles so those are mine, but I don't need the Korngold/Wagner and I certainly don't need the Conti.  Then again, I do have a complete set of club titles and I'll probably just get them anyway.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up...  And it's early.  :-\  ;)

-With the way "Disney's Magic Express" works, they have to take you to the airport at least two hours before our flight - preferably three hours.  So, since my flight will be departing at 7:35am, I ended up on the 4:45am bus from the Coronado Springs Resort this morning.  Of course, the airport is sort of empty, and I got through Check-In and Registration in about seven minutes, so...  But I had a surprisingly good breakfast at BK - Burger King, not BK - and I purchased some snacks for the flight.  -Although, I highly suspect that I will be napping/sleeping during most of it.  In any case...

Good Morning!

:)
