BK - "Shwarma" is basically just grilled meat (lamb or chicken usually) that has been seasoned with garlic and herbs.  As for the "meat ball thing", I'm guessing you had some falafel.  Not deadly at all.

Well, my flight will now be leaving at 7:45am instead of 7:35am... But we're still supposed to get into LGA on time, so...  Another ten minutes of "vacation". ;)

Note to travelers who may happen to spend some time in the Delta gate area at MCO: The free wireless internet signal is very good and strong at Gate 73, and not so good and weak at Gate 78. ;)

DR singdaw - I, too, also own the Special Edition DVD of "My Fair Lady", but have yet to watch it - let alone unwrap it.  However, I do remember watching the movie once during high school, and catching bits and pieces of it here and there whenever it's been on TV, but I don't think I've watched it all the way through in years(!).

*And I was the Tenor1 Busker in my high school production. :)

DR Ginny - DR Jason mentioned that he will be playing two or three days in Dayton, OH.  He should have his final schedule and venue information today or tomorrow.  -However, in the meantime, if you Google for "TheatreWorks" and "A Christmas Carol", you may be able to find the info.  -And DR Jason is also a bit "puzzled" himself as to why they haven't received their complete itineraries yet.

Well.....I think Sheila Gish did a fine job as Joanne in the Donmar COMPANY....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khypl3a1hV4

She looks like Carroll Baker - which is a plus for me.

It was very strange to see Bobby played by a black actor - or at least different.  And "What Would We Do Without You" was turned into kind of a coke-induced Stepin Fetchit routine.  I haven't seen a production of the show, so I don't know what it is supposed to be....

The only song I really didn't like was "Another Hundred People" which is also on the page if you scroll down.  That girl kept bugging out her eyes like she was being pinched.

BUT after listening to the cast album for almost 40 years, any variation sounds strange to me....and Gish seems to be flat on some of the held notes....   Or maybe it's Joanne.  :P

Gish seems to be flat

The costume designer wanted her to use a push-up bra, but she refused.

There is more than enough blame to go around to fill the coffers of both the union and the producers.

Prolly couldn't find one big -- er one to fit.

Damn....I had to go find Pamela Myers on YouTube and hear "Another Hundred People" to forget that other thing.

DR SINGDAW all of the costumes at Donmar were....strange.  :P

I don't want to sound like a know it all but I knew this was not going to be a simple one or two day strike quickly and easily resolved. The stakes are too high on both sides and the venom (also on both sides) runs deep. I don't know how long it's going to last but if shows are cancelled through Thanksgiving weekend that does not bode well for the quick resolution of issues.

Drowsy and Rent will most certainly close because of the strike and if it goes on throughout December the list will grow. There is talk that Grinch will re-open tomorrow because they had negotiated a special agreement well before the strike and the Union seems to agree now. If this had not happened then Grinch probably would not have re-opened.

It's a sad situation on all sides (and I'm not taking sides, though I'm a strong Union man, holder of 3 performing union cards). I just hope the situation can be resolved before January.

Good morning, all!  The laundry is in the washer, and soon Jo and I will run out for various errands.  I really love her and Randy, and I am so grateful to them for everything.

The flight's this afternoon, so I have plenty of time to pack and drag myself to Dayton.

TOD: Does a BLT count?
When I was in college, the student center served a "steak sandwich" that was most likely ground chuck in a grilled rectangular patty of meat that was served on a garlicy and buttery roll with lots of mushrooms and sauce. It was quite tasty.
