Once the children were asleep last night (ah, an almost Carousel reference), we - my brother and his wife, one of my brother's Coast Guard buddies and his wife, and myself - decided to watch a movie.  My brother took a chance on "Miami Vice" - the movie version with Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx.  What a bad, bad, bad, bad, movie.  I don't think I've ever heard so many one-line clichés strung one after the other, scene after scene.  It provided many a laugh for all of us.  :)

Good morning!

Very cool. crisp November morning here, just the way it's supposed to be for this time of year. I'll be going out later, but I expect the grocery store to be deserted like it was this time last year. Everyone's out at other types of stores shopping if they're out at all.

My computer just froze up for the first time since I've had it (August). I had to do a cold reboot which I despise doing. The only time I ever worry about "breaking" a computer is forcing it to power down and then powering back up right after.

In case anyone gets the idea about reruns tonight, there are NEW episodes of GHOST WHISPERER, MOONLIGHT, and WOMEN'S MURDER CLUB on tap for this evening. Other shows may be new as well, but these are the ones I watch so I checked them out ahead of time.

No.  If I do go out today, it will be later tonight.  I sometimes just like walking into a store and/or mall and looking at the aftermath.  ;)

Apparently, local Black Friday sites are ugly, ugly, ugly.

I hope my CostCo run doesn't turn into a fiasco.

It's time to get out, get some coffee and a morning bun, and proceed to the store where I "hope" to buy a PC that is on sale.

Offer good only while supplies last, dontchaknow!

As for the Friday Media Check...

Radio: WQXR

CD Player/iPod:
-"The Stockholm Concert, 1966 (Live)" - Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington - 8 tracks of pure musical genius and heaven!

-"Hairspray - 2-Disc Collector's Edition Soundtrack" - Alas, the first disc in the set is the original "Hairspray" (single-disc) sountrack - which I already have - but the second disc does have some fun extras.  I'm glad I got it on sale and with a discount coupon too.  ;)  *I was hoping that this edition of the soundtrack would have included the "movie versions" of the song incorporating some of the sound effects - especially for the opening, "Good Morning, Baltimore", but it doesn't.  And I'm still thrown off by the audio levels and mix of the bits of dialogue that are included.

-"Enchanted" soundtrack.

DR JoseSPiano, I was wondering - since you come from a family of caterers, does that up the stakes?  I mean, does that provide extra pressure for each and every offering on the Thanksgiving table to be extra fabulous?  Or does it tend to go the other way: a comfortable ease with all of the many preparations?

I have gone out early on a few Black Friday's in the past when there were some specifice items I wanted to get that were on a really good sale. It was actually sort of fun, but it was never as wild as they show in TV.

Orville didn't like flying with Wilbur.  It wasn't the habit of that HARSH COPILOT to speak with HOLOPHRASTIC abruptness that was so bad, but more that the only response Wilbur ever gave to Orville's commands was a singular, surly #*$%.

Hi all!  I hope all had a wonderful holiday.

Today I shall work on my Christmas cards.  I don't have everyones address so I'm sorry if you don't receive a card.

I still can't drive so any Black Friday shopping is out of the question.  Not that I would go out anyway.   I was hoping to get a good deal on a HD TV but I also figure that the after Christamas sales should be good.  By then, I should be able to drive and I should also be able to assemble the table I will have to buy for it to sit on.

I was never into TWIN PEAKS.  I watched the first few shows before I switched from Direct TV.  It didn't do anything for me and I don't miss it.
