Let's all do the Birthday Boogie for Mikey!

Get out your roller skates (the best ones are from Brooklyn...) and short shorts.  Quickly everybody! We've only got this roller rink for 10 minutes cause DR Matt has to get back and clean his den before we all head over to his place for Mikey's BD Brunch!  That's right! Places, everyone! ooh! Here comes Mikey! Hit it!

Ta--tah ... ta-ta-ta-tah! Again!

"Get down, get down
Whoop, whoop!
Get down, get down
Whoop, Whoop!

Play that funky BD music, white boy
Crank it out really lou-ouud!
Let's all boogie "Right On" down now
And give a festive BD "Shout Out"
To that funky BD bo-oooy!

Whoop-whoop!

The study of the HHW tribe, I mean, family (imagine the findings on that research! ....)

RE: The server down yesterday.

I believe brucekimmel.com and haineshisway.com use the same server. When I could not get on to the later yesteday, I tried the former and was to get onto the site. I thought that very strange.

Good morningg!

We're in the midst of a heat wave (an Irving Berlin reference). Only 53 for a low last night and going into the mid-70s today! Wow!

I plan to continue today with LOST. I'll be starting with episode 16, but I doubt I'll be able to get the rest of the box set finished today. (Disc 7 is totally devoted to special features and there appear to be hours of them.)

I'm expecting the new Criterion TWO-LANE BLACKTOP in the mail today. It comes out tomorrow in stores, but I won't be able to get to it until I finish with LOST. I also have the first season of DIRT waiting to be watched.

It's simply astonishing. I don't remember a December this warm! We're supposed to have this for much of this week.

My favorite silent film would have to be CITY LIGHTS which I consider one of the greatest films ever made.

Of course, I've sung the praises of THE CIRCUS here for many years, so it ranks right up there too. I love SHOW BUSINESS with William Haines and Marion Davies. BEN-HUR is stirring and every bit as entertaining as the 1959 version at about half the length.

And Keaton's films SHERLOCK JR. (which may have been my first silent, I have a hard time remembering), THE GENERAL, and STEAMBOAT BILL, JR. are also great favorites.

And I guess I can't forget SUNRISE and BROKEN BLOSSOMS and a couple of Valentino's later pictures THE EAGLE and COBRA which I really enjoyed.

Yep, Chaney's films and Fairbanks' are wonderful fun, but I can't say I have a favorite. I haven't seen enough of them honestly.

Just a reminder:

all of CBS' slate tonight (I believe) contains new episodes of the comedies and CSI: MIAMI. JOURNEYMAN on NBC is also new tonight. I believe this is the last episode of that particular series. Unlike LIFE and CHUCK, it has not been renewed for the rest of the season, so even if the strike ends, I suspect tonight's show is the last we'll see.

Golly, so much to catch up on (including much eye-catching stuff that up probably likes being caught on) practically first thing in the morning.

It must be the birthday of the sweetest guy on HHW.  Happy birthday, Mike Barnum, and many many more!
