Well, I was back home by 10:00 this morning, the doctor's called back at 10:30 and said they were faxing a prescription to my pharmacy immediately.  I then fell into a deep sleep until 5:00 when Angel woke me up for dinner (hers, not mine).  I got dressed and was about to drive to the pharmacy, when I got the bright idea to call ahead.  I am certainly glad I didn't because there was NO presciption called in or faxed by my doctor.

I have now called and left a blistering message at the doctor's office, phoned work and told them I would  gone tomorrow, fed the cats, and am now going to crawl back to the bedroom.

And how was your day?

DR TCB - I hope you get a good night's sleep after your "nap" today.  Rest is always good for the body.  -And I hope everything is worked out at your doctor's office and the pharmacy tomorrow morning.

OK YOU COMPUTER VIDEO WIZARDS

Once you have a .mov file playing in iTunes, how can you save it to disk as an .mp4?

Magic Mommy's new camera took a nice short (less than  one minute) video which it saved in a 103MB .mov file. She would like to Email it to her brother and so needs a much smaller file.

Thanks all for the info re: icing sugar/powdered sugar.

I just found it so odd that we would call the same thing something totally different!

Well, in America, we have cotton candy but in England, they call it "floss sugar." ??? Where'd that name come from...or which came first?

I'm off to Costco.  I need to return a couple of things...nothing that I received, though. :)

Until later.

And DR Kerry was such a dear and was so patient with my feeble attempts at cooking.

Do not believe this woman!   She made a lovely prime rib, s fresh salad, double-stuffed baked potatoes (which I could use right about now) healthy (and just right, not overcooked) vegetables.  And yes, all done at once!  It was picture perfect and delightful and something far beyond my skills anymore.

DR Sandra made Floop!  This is a separate paragraph.  It probably deserves its own entry, but I'll admit that it was quite good  (to her amazement).

Vibes to all.  Tom, that pneumonia has been going on far too long, and I know there are different kinds, and you can even get more than one kind at the same time. (i've gone through this with a number of people)  Are they sure that's what it is?  Do you have anyone decent to check with?

CANDY USA

Quote
It is unclear who was the first person to invent cotton candy. Four people, Thomas Patton, Josef Delarose Lascaux, John C. Wharton, and William Morrison, have all been named as the inventors of the candy.

Wharton and Morrison received a patent for the cotton candy machine in 1899. They created the first electric cotton candy machine to melt and spin sugar through tiny holes using centrifugal force. After the two candy makers from Tennessee received the patent, Wharton and Morrison took the invention to the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904.

Patton received a separate patent in 1900 for his process of making cotton candy. He was experimenting with caramelizing sugar and forming threads using a fork. Patton used a gas-fired rotating plate to spin the cotton candy threads. He introduced the candy at Ringley Bros. Circus and it became popular with children.

Around the same time, a Louisiana dentist, Lascaux, introduced cotton candy at his dental practice though he never received a patent or trademark for the confection.

America celebrates National Cotton Candy Day on December 7th

Cotton candy was originally called fairy floss

In 1920 fairy floss was re-named cotton candy

Note:  No hint on where the name came from!

And continuing with "The Kennedy Center Honors"...  I think that was the longest "bit" of Classical Music on network in a long time. -The Leon Fleisher tribute.

As as for the tribute to Diana Ross... Someone should have told Smokey Robinson that plastic surgery isn't really a "miracle".  ;)

I was trying to find my Lansbury/Hearn DVD of Sweeney Todd and it is nowhere to be found.  I've looked high and low and also low and high.  I've found Sunday In The Park and Passion but no Sweeney anywhere.  I've looked once, I've looked twice, I've looked thrice, but nada.

But, I'm quite certain the errant and truant (I will soon begin the naming of names) will sheepishly return to tell us how busy they were and then hopefully regale us with tales of Christmas and meals and gifts.
