In a day or so, I suspect Woody will go into "hermit mode" - the "Torchwood" box set has shipped. 13 Episodes of "Torchwoord", 13 episodes of "Torchwood Declassified" and tons of extras in a 7CD box set - all for under $60.

You're welcome, DR TPunk.

Do you still need a delivery of Sudafed? ;)

;D Nope, my roommate and I finally went to Duane Reade and stocked up. Well stocked up as much as we could with the new law that tries to prevent people from manufacturing crystal meth.

The cats have appreciated my roommate and I being sick. They have had at least one of us home with them all day for the past week. I have confirmed my hypothesis that Pierre operates on only two speeds: asleep or holy terror.

And when it did the Music categories become "Achievement..."?

A "misnomer" in this day and age, I assure you.

We need to be very specific.  Mr. Berlin, et al played the piano and wrote more than the melody line - he harmonized his tunes.  Harvey Schmidt doesn't read or write music down on paper, but he creates the musical language of the song, not just its melody line.  So, those are those types of composers.

The whistlers, who do not play and have no idea how to harmonize a song and create an accompaniment, let alone an arrangement, people like Mr. Newley and Mr. Bricusse, etc. who merely sing a tune into a recorder or to whomever their arranger is, completely rely on others to make the song have harmonics and accompaniment.

I am in the former category - I can't really notate music well enough and I leave it to others (I know the notes, just not enough about notation and timing), but the accompaniment, chords, structure and harmonics are all me.

In the musical I'm mentoring, when I've actually kept any of the original composers tunes, I'm sometimes completely reharmonized them so that they work, and I certainly have given them structure, and, most importantly form and pleasing arrangements, which make them work in a way their author would never have imagined, because he doesn't think in musical theater ways.

Gosh!  I couldn't work up "cheery" if my life depended upon it, or so it seems.

Sorry to be so gloomy today.

I can hum a few bars of something...and do a little time step.

But basically, my main talent is "air conducting"!

I've been told that In The Valley of Elah is a very good movie - however, it's no wonder it tanked and that few have seen it - if I hadn't been told it was good there would be no way I would see a movie with that awful, wretched title.

I, too, was surprised by The Simpsons omission, and frankly I'm surprised Alvin And The Chipmunks wasn't in the third position.

I also used to play the clari-o-net.

A Selmer Bundy Bb clari-o-net, to be precise.

Of the three Enchanted songs, I only care for two - I don't like the two pop ballady things in the film.

Hmm... Would "Alvin and the Chipmunks" been considered for the Animation category since it was mainly live action?  -Otherwise, "Enchanted" might have gotten the third slot. ;)

Is Robbins "whistling" something that Bernstein is thinking about playing?

On Sunday afternoon, I viewed two (count 'em 2) Harry Potter movies on HD DVD.

First, I watched "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and then I watched "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkhaban".

They looked mahvelous in HD.

I Could not have finished without our DR Jose!  Thank you, dear friend!

Good afternoon, all!  Sunday was hell.  I knew by 1 pm I was getting sick, and after my trip for more storage boxes I spent 3-5 pm violently ill, confined to my bathroom.  After 5, I inflated the air mattress and fell over.  On Monday morning, I called to postpone the exterminator. They were closed for the holiday, so I left a message, felt stupid lying around feeling queasy and decided to continue the moving and shifting.  Around 1:30 I had two deliveries: matzoh ball soup and rice pudding from Arties and a huge floral display from a DR, followed shortly by a checkup callfrom the send.

It also turns out this is the latest bed bug situation in my building: 5A, 4A (over for now), 4B, 3B, 2B, and now me.  The neighbors from 4A stopped by to offer me good advice, and by the time DR Jose showed up, I was down to the last round of activity: all the oversized books sittign on the floor.  If he hadn't pitched in to help, I'd still be bagging them.

This morning I was up by 6:30, th laundry was in by 7, and at 8:15 I spoke to the extermonator.  I told him to send the man if I were still on the schedule.  At 10 am, the exterminator called to say he was caught in midtown traffic and he arrived by 11.  When he finished spraying his various poisons, I went to Manhattan Storage at 107 and Columbus to rent a storage space. By the end of the week, I hope a huge number of storage boxes are sitting in a new home.

So, I believe my bout of sickness was poisoning from the Pledge and the bug spray.  I'll never be certain.  Tonight, I have to deal with washing all the dishes and cooking utensils, vacuum- AGAIN! - and determining which plastic bags have clothing and things I need ASAP.  Nothing is coming out of their plastic for good until I know things are in safe con dition.
