MattH--one of the Tammy movies (I think "& the Doctor", but it might be "tell me true") has one of Percy Faith's few original scores for film.

I did not know this! Thanks for the info.

I stumbled across something interesting as I was researching Oscar and Golden Globe information for THE APARTMENT.

In 1960, the Hollywood Foreign Press gave Golden Globes in the category of Most Promising Newcomer (Male and Female). They had done this for years and would continue to do it for years to come.

At any rate, in 1960, there were six male nominees and three winners declared. Here's who won:

Michael Callan
Mark Damon
Brett Halsey

Now, look at the names of the three men who lost that year to these three "more promising" newcomers:

Peter Falk
David Janssen
Robert Vaughn

Guess I'll head downstairs now to check the USPS mail (the CRIMSON TIDE Blu-ray came via UPS), and then start on lunch preparation.

Wednesday morning (just got that in under the wire!) greetings!  My workday started with a long meeting, but it was at Panera where I had a nice bear claw and coffee.  I am now about to eat the lunch I brought back from there before an afternoon full of coaching University of Dayton students on the grantseeking database.

Maybe Sherlock should go to college:

Jan. 29: Showers of heavy, wet snow falls on the Southern Oregon University campus in Ashland, Ore.

Why, when we have so much more snow at our house (higher elevation). ;D

Often we get snow when Ashland doesn't, not this time.  And more is expected.

STRESS!!!!!  Some stupid frigging delivery truck drove by our house a few minutes ago and was too tall for the street and ripped one of our phone lines right out of the house.  I wasn't sure if it was phone or electric, so I called 911 and the Fire Department came and confirmed it was phone and got the line out from the street and coiled it in my driveway.  But now the phone company (and the electric company, since the phone line was looped on the electric line) need to come.  And of course the truck just kept on a goin' even though I sure he knew what he had done (it made a hellacious noise), so I bet I get stuck with the repair bills.

I’m anxiously waiting for BIG news from L.A……If my nephew is a father yet, and if all is well.  They wanted the sex of the baby to be a surprise, adding to the anticipation.

Good morning, all! I had a lousy time reading yesterday's poasts; my computer froze on page 7 and would not continue and then I was bounced oof of today with the "too many connections" whine.

Another day as usual fighting the pests. The landlord yesterday finally posted -  although it was dated Jan 18 - an alert and their intention to support us though this bedbug crisis.  Too late, in my book.

I've heard from our DR MBarnum yesterday. He;s taking a break for the nonce helping a family relocation situation in Salem.

That ismy news.

DR Jane - will this make you a great-aunt for the first time?  Hope you get the news soon.

Yes, & thank you Ginny.  We were all beginning to worry there would never be a next generation in our family.  This is very exciting & I admit to being very nervous today.

***GOOD NEWS VIBES*** for DR Jane.  [ I guess DD Sherlock doesn't count as "next generation"  ;) ]

Sorry about that unfortunate incident, DR JMK.  Too bad you couldn't chase the truck down in your car to get the licence plate # for some accountability.
