My gardening show producer will probably come by today at some point, to offer gardening advice.

Ask him about the Hitler Bamboo and if it will grow in Indiana.  ;D

Jrand - Indeed, I thought the same thing about GROUNDHOG DAY when I heard the concept - it seemed so obvious, so why didn't I think of that before they did?

But then it turned out that the idea of a day repeating wasn't that new after all.

So i wonder if there will be even wilder riffs to come on the idea of a dead person's cell phone.  But playwright Sarah Ruhl goes very wild with it.

P.S. for you as an actor - The "Dead Man" role seems like it could be played by a whole range of ages, so be alert if it's done in your area.  It's a plum role, so if anyone asks you to play it, read the second act before refusing it.

Good morning!!

It's overcast this morning, and it looks like rain is imminent. We need it so no complaints from me. I'll be inside today anyway since it's laundry day and also the day I clean the guest bath.

TV Reminders:

CBS has the last new COLD CASE for awhile tonight. And DEXTER begins its run tonight on CBS.

A new BROTHERS & SISTERS airs at 10 tonight on ABC. It's the last new one for awhile.

NBC is dragging another old hit out of mothballs and updating it. KNIGHT RIDER in TV-movie form premieres tonight. It it's a hit in the ratings, expect NBC to turn it back into a series for next season.

Today, I'll be watching the director's cut of BEOWULF. I didn't see it at the theaters, so I'm curious to see how this next attempt at motion capture animation works out.

The DVD comes out on the 26th.

This will be the first time I've watched COLD CASE in months. Unless the golf match runs way overtime, COLD CASE should finally start at its scheduled 9 p.m. time.

Thanks for the travel home vibes! I am eager to get home and see Dog Bosco and Freddy. My co-worker/dog sitter Brenda has been sending me some hilarious photos of Bosco all week which I will share upon my return.

DR Jrand, it is always nice to have a DVD collection on those sick days! And I agree that John Saxon was one of Sandra Dee's best leading men..they just looked so good together and he was always so sincere.

Oh, I just read the sad news that actor Perry Lopez passed away in Beverly Hills of lung cancer. Seems he guest starred on just about every TV show made between 1955 and 1994, and of course he will be long remembered as the lead in the Beverly Garland  Allison Hayes film THE STEEL JUNGLE.

Guess I'll head down now, get the laundry ready for washing, and then begin lunch preparation.

Not to say I told ya so, but I told ya so, BK (re:  The Smiling Lieutenant).  Monte Carlo is the most dated of the four (and also the earliest, perhaps no coinky-dink then).  I had a really hard time understanding MacDonald's high register stuff.

Is time for to check out of the Burbank Marriott and head over to the Oaks of Sherman wherein I will meet BK for breakfast at 10. Before I head over, however, I shall stop and shop at Fry's Electronics and see what DVDs they might have for sale...'cause gosh knows I need more DVDs.

We finished the first season of DEXTER last night.  Largely compelling, but I found the final couple of episodes pretty hackneyed, and, like the killer's identity, I also guessed his connection to Dexter probably halfway through the season, as I bet any good mystery fan will, too.  But it's certainly an unusual series and there are some great performances even when the scripts follow well-worn formulas.

I know, I've been E&T the last couple of days.

Get over it.

 :o

Time to get to work.

Maybe I'll be back later on, after I get home again.

I have not been errant or truant.
Indeed, not.

I've been enjoying the exploits of bk and MBarnum rigorously.

I've done my laundry for the week.

I've cooked my dinners for the weekend.

I've grocery shopped.

I've shopped for music and dvds and books.

I've ripped dvds so that they are ready for a major trade.

I'm ready for a rest.

I bought, with a 10% off total sale coupon, the dvds of THE WIZ and EL CID.
I watched all of the 2nd disc of EL CID's special features, so perhaps later I shall watch the film.
I watched a lot of THE WIZ; it's still an ugly film even with the anamorphic enhancement, but, this new release boast a terrific DTS soundtrack in addition to the DD 5.1.

I want Peggy Wood to knock on her door and ask, "What is it, Jaymie, you c---t face?"

Yes, I'm still brooding.  I did send a letter of complaint about her actions to my apartment management today.

***TRAVEL VIBES*** to our dear DR MBarnum!

DR JoseSPiano - great Steinway photos! Also, thanks for sharing the "art," I guess.   :-\  Do they really allow you to take photos in the MOMA galleries?

DearReaderLaura DR - great rain photos!

Lovely photos also of bk and his colleagues at the show!

Glad to hear that DR George is feeling a bit better.   :)

The opera last night was fun.  They sang in German with supertitles, but the dialogue was rendered in English.  The "guest artists" in the party scene were Yale Opera graduates now on the Met roster.  Unfortunately, it just highlighted how much the current students still have to develop as singers.

Is the Robert Waldman that bk is referring to the same Robert Waldman who composed the score for The Robber Bridegroom?
