DR Jose:  Re: yesterday evening's question about staying free "across the bridge" in the Bay Area and whether it would be comparable to actually staying IN San Francisco, I have to say it totally depends upon how convenient said free lodgings are to the BART.    BART makes all the difference.

I was also quite underwhelmed with the women on IDOL. I'm glad i just ffed through the parts i did not want to watch.

It was interesting though seeing some of the original auditions (before each girl went on).

A few of them were not really seen in Hollywood. So i did not remember them. But when they showed their auditions i did remember seeing those.  So at least they did get a tiny bit of coverage.

In particular the girl kady malloy (who they said was the best they had seen in auditions), and allaina (sp?) the 16 yr old blonde (who simon had said in the audition that she wasn't as good as she thought she was).

At least it was nice to be able to remember those comments and put them with a face.

I had loved carly in her original audition and in hollywood (the irish singer). So hopefully she will do better.

I think that brunette (is her name amy?) will probably go. She didn't do well. and i don't remember her being featured on the show.

They seem to really like that really small girl (remi or something?).

And simon loves that black girl with the busy hair (her name is something like saiesha). Sorry i am so bad with the names.

In their first auditions i had really liked brooke (with the wavy blonde hair who sang the happy song) and the first blonde girl (who totally did not impress me last night).

Good morning!

Cold and crisp this morning and overcast. We're supposed to have showers tonight. Yesterday it got up to 65, but today isn't supposed to get out of the high 40s.

TV Reminders:

No SMALLVILLE tonight. Two episodes of SUPERNATURAL, a rerun at 8 and the last new episode for awhile at 9.

LOST and ELI STONE on ABC. Can't wait for them!

Of course, SURVIVOR for those interested on CBS.

To answer your question from last night bk, all PBS stations formulate their own schedules based on local needs and their ability to pay for the programming being offered by PBS.

As I said yesterday, we have three PBS stations in my area, and only one chose to show COMPANY last night. Another is showing it tonight at 9 (and repeating it on Saturday night at 10). The third station does not have it scheduled at all.

I'll be continuing to watch HUMAN GIANT episodes today. Hope to finish with it by the end of the evening. With the commercials removed, the shows run less than 20 minutes each!

I feel kind of guilty not watching the films in the stack that will be up for some Oscars on Sunday night. However, if I do finish HUMAN GIANT today, I'll be able to get INTO THE WILD watched at least by Sunday. (It's 146 minutes long with commentary and other bonuses, so it will take some time to get through it all.)

Movie title that initially left me cold: TWELVE MONKEYS

Glad I decided not to let the title dissuade me from seeing the movie.

Here's a little article on that massive music collection, mentioned here the other day, that's being auctioned on ebay.

Another sad news report: Ben Chapman, who played THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (in scenes that took place on land) died this morning.

I met him several years ago and he was quite a nice guy...and quite tall, too!

And speaking of ebay, does anyone want to bid on the Virgin Mary pretzel?

Someone should put together a taxi cab company and call it Mary.  It would give "Hailing Mary" a fun, new meaning.

I mean, let's face it, "Hailing Checkers" sounds like someone is calling a cocker spaniel.

And the word of the day is: ECHT!
When the choreographer of the Broadway show called out "A - Five - Six - Seven - ECHT!", dancers Donna and Sammy knew they'd found themselves the real deal.
