Paternal dog Billy takes on an unusual kid

Last updated at 12:23pm on 28th February 2008

A paternal dog has adopted an abandoned baby goat as his surrogate child.

Billy the boxer has become the constant companion of the 12-day old kid called Lilly. He sleeps with the goat, licks her clean, and protects her from any dangers at Pennywell Farm wildlife centre at Buckfastleigh, near Totnes, Devon.

Laura, I could take twenty pictures a day for one month, and never have one as stunning as the ones you post.

Today does not seem to be Fred Meyer's day.  The company just sent me an e-mail warning about the bleach, sold under their brand, that was recalled this morning.

It is another beautiful day in Tacoma.  I was going to post another photo, but I was afraid that I might slouch.

;D Please don't worry about slouching and give us another great photo. :)

A favorite "red carpet" moment from the Oscars, 'cause I really love Calista Flockhart (and has anyone this petite been seen at Oscar since Audrey Hepburn???):

I didn't see them on the red carpet, must have been watching the wrong station.  That is a lovely photo of her.

I will be sure that when your name is added to the ENEMIES list it is notated with - "But he's a really nice guy" ;D

We have had so many Boxers attack our dogs (maybe they don't like Bernese Mountain Dogs) we have become leery of them.   It is sweet to see the other side of this breed.

Jane, I have heard NEVER TAKE IT APART. They are almost impossible to put back together.

I use baking soda and white vinegar and elbow grease. It gets most of it.

But Matt H will probably know exactly what to use.

It looks just about certain that we've found our Brain - and a totally unexpected serendipitious and fortuitous thing it is.  As I was walking to Du-Par's for lunch, it suddenly occurred to me that Mark Rothman, way back when, was going to play the songwriter Ernest Ernest in my mockumentary about Meltz and Ernest.  As soon as I thought that, it further occurred to me that he'd make a very funny Brain - he's a sixty-year-old, six-foot-four Jew, and very droll and funny.  The concern was the singing, but he came over and sang and read for me and was terrific.

He lives in Michigan and was flying home next Tuesday, and he still will, but then he will fly to Seattle, where his car is (he has a condo there) and drive it back to LA, where he also has a condo at the beach.  So, barring anything unforseen, he's just told me he's onboard.  Mark has done a little performing in days of old, and, of course, he co-created Laverne and Shirley, wrote for all the Garry Marshall shows (including The Odd Couple) and has a lot of good show biz history.  One down, two to go.

Years ago my mother took an oven door apart & I put it back together again.  You can't do that easily anymore.

Do you ever use a razor on the glass?  Bryan needs to get his as clean as possible before his loft goes on the market Thursday.

That, and the lousy writing.  It makes the worst MONK episodes look better than they are.

Well, that's NOT to be endured!

I love this sentence about Mark Rothman from Wikipedia:

Quote
He has written two plays: The Wearing of the Greens, and "Who Wants Fame", which are popular among low budget theaters.

No, DR derBRUCER.  My zoo keeper joke is as follows:

Woman: (standing in front of empty monkey cage)  Where are the monkeys?

Zoo Keeper:  They are in the back making love.

Woman:  Would they come out for peanuts?

Zoo Keeper:  Would you?

Directions from my oven manual:

Always wait until window is cool before cleaning
Spray glass cleaner on clean cloth and apply to glass.  Remove stubborn stains with plastic scrubber
Rinse using minimal water and dry.

That is rather simple.  There are so many glass cleaners out there they might at least mention which ingredients are best; i.e. ammonia or vinegar.
