It looks just about certain that we've found our Brain - and a totally unexpected serendipitious and fortuitous thing it is.  As I was walking to Du-Par's for lunch, it suddenly occurred to me that Mark Rothman, way back when, was going to play the songwriter Ernest Ernest in my mockumentary about Meltz and Ernest.  As soon as I thought that, it further occurred to me that he'd make a very funny Brain - he's a sixty-year-old, six-foot-four Jew, and very droll and funny.  The concern was the singing, but he came over and sang and read for me and was terrific.

He lives in Michigan and was flying home next Tuesday, and he still will, but then he will fly to Seattle, where his car is (he has a condo there) and drive it back to LA, where he also has a condo at the beach.  So, barring anything unforseen, he's just told me he's onboard.  Mark has done a little performing in days of old, and, of course, he co-created Laverne and Shirley, wrote for all the Garry Marshall shows (including The Odd Couple) and has a lot of good show biz history.  One down, two to go.

Congratulations!  Vibes that the rest of the casting goes well!!

This is rather strange:

YOUR AGE BY EATING OUT

Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway-but your waiter may know YOUR AGE BY DINER & RESTAURANT MATH

This is pretty neat

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!

It takes less than a minute. Work this out as you read.

Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!

This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to go out to eat.  (more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1758...

If you haven't, add 1757.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number. (i.e., How many times you want to go out to restaurants in a week.)

The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE ! ------ (Oh YES, it is!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2008) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS

I'm off.  I need to get something to eat and I have a coupon for Quiznos. :) After that will be rehearsal, where we start blocking for Act 2!

Re fenced yards and pets:

I'm sure our fence will not keep out a determined raccoon.

I'm not sure if the fox can scale the fence, but I suspect he can.

The hawks that scoop up squirrels from the front yard would be undeterred.

And I thought PASSIONS was stupid!  This soap has no time; the parents arrive to save them in a split second; the plot involving the $250,000 is whizzing by. He's dressing as he talks on the phone and walks into the next part of the storyline fully dressed immediastely after! Magic.

I thought that was a stupid scene but I hvae seen worse on Passions and Days, especiall during the Reign of Terror under James E. Reilly

I think Kritzerland needs to publish its first coffee table book; and your photos Dear Reader Laura should be the entire contents.  You have a wonderful eye.

I agree...

Elmore,,

The thing that got me the one time I watched Passions were the speech bubbles above the turkey's head and the head of the toddler.... That was lame

And THIS is why I'll be asking der Brucer to record all three hours of ABC's programming tonight (Pop-Up Lost, New Lost, and Eli Stone)

But...he said nary a word! Guess I should treat this like HHW's Refrigerator Door and take the message :D

Another Lost Mystery:  Has anyone else noticed that Harold Perrineau has been in the credits again this season, but I have yet to see him.

I'm just assuming that since he was contracted for the season - whether or not he reappears - he has to be given some sort of official "credit", recognition.

-At least that's the "simple" answer I'm telling myself in order not to drive myself crazy thinking about it. ;)

Let's see what went wrong, from my perspective:

--- LOUSY title
--- Tale about 6 friends in a big city (huh-oh...ever hear of "Friends"?)
--- Promos made it look like a bunch of trendy, whiny "pretty people" who live a "high life" that every young person should aspire to...cad, ho, bartender, louse....

 ::)

Well... I think "quarterlife" was one of the true "casualties" of the Writer's Strike.  It originally started on the web - and was/is quite popular on the web.  I believe that NBC just wanted to put some sort of new programming on TV, and since it was a "convenient" property, well...  Alas, the show probably should have just stayed on the very-small screen.

There is something I've always wondered about Iron Chef.  It appears that they only plate one of each dish and get it done just as the time is called.  So are they then allowed to plate the remaining servings for the judges?  It has to be so

DR Jennifer - As for my comment about the "Lost" blurb....

Well... I think we all have to remember what Jack said in the finale of last season, "We have to go back."  -Or whatever he said that resembles that statement.  There are obviously still some people left on the island.  And, from what has been presented so far, it appears that the "left behind" are considered "dead" to the outside world.  As for the Oceanic 6, 8, etc...  The 8 was in reference to who got off the island, not necessarily who were on that  Oceanic flight.  And who's to say there wasn't a second crash somewhere down the line?  -And with the news coverage of the "other" flight wreckage, maybe it's part of the cover-up...

Silly stuff but better than most antics of the young stars today. ;D

Thanks to your link I found this interesting, and IMHO well done, video of Prince Harry
in Iraq.  Whoever originally linked the story he was there & endangered not only his life, but the lives of those around him, should be locked up.  Sometimes freedom of the press is not a good thing.

In any case....

As for the four that were sent home on "American Idol"...  There were going to go sometime.  However, I did find the "compassion" quite a refreshing turn of events, so to speak.
