Not with that spelling!

Van der Bogarde (or some such).  Close to my favourite ever actor.
The Servant, Death in Venice etc.
His novels and autobiographical books are a very pleasurable read. (Possibly because he stayed away from actors - the exception being his friendship with Charlotte Rampling)

In my CD player at work:  the complete studio recording of the musical, bare.

In my DVR:  last night's 2-hour "Celebrity Apprentice."  I watched the first hour, but I need to get to bed.  So now, to sleep. 8)

TRISTAN ALERT!!!!!![/color]

Deborah Voigt and Ben Heppner, originally slated to star in all six performances of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde this season, are scheduled to sing together on Friday night. Illness has prevented them from taking the stage together until this final Tristan of the season, conducted by James Levine. To celebrate their very first full performance together—anywhere—of this epic opera, the Met will stream the performance live on its website.

Visit The MET's website at 7 p.m. tonight to hear Voigt and Heppner live from Met in Tristan und Isolde.

The next time I visit MoMA I shall sing:

It's oblique and obtuse and outré-ish
Sort of all pink-ish but sort of all gray-ish
But it's art!
But it's art!
But it's aaaaaart!

And the word of the day is: DEBOUCH!
What an interesting word.

Particularly when one looks up the meaning in a dictionary.

The whole thing comes from BOUCHE, which is French for "Mouth."

BOUCH itself is defined as:

Quote
A mouth. [Obs.]

Sorta figured that, from the French.

The prefix DE- essentially means:

Quote
Remove or remove from; Out of

So, if we take DE - remove out of - and BOUCH - mouth - we get "remove out of the mouth."

In other words, DEBOUCH basically refers to throwing up.

And, with that wonderful way of starting everyone's morning, I gladly return you to your regular programming.

I was thinking that Boyd Gaines is really too young for Patty Lu, but it turns out that he's my age, and only four years younger than she.

But he's much more my type than she is.

TOD:

Danny Meyer's Setting the Table: The Transforming Power of Hospitality in Business.

Chapter One is all about his father, whom he adored, and how his father screwed himself and his family in business not once but several times.  It is also about how and what he learned from his father.

I'm still reading Chapter Two.

He hasn't started a restaurant of his own yet.  I get the feeling he's about to.

I thought De Bousch was an area in Australia.

Friday is a work day, oh well.

TOD:

DVD - Black Widow, The Gale Storm Show (two separate DVD's)

CD - Mavis Rivers

VHS - nada

I did switch over from the LOST repeat to  THE SPIRAL STAIRCASE, which I always enjoy.  For some reason, I thought it was a David O. Selznick production, which it was not.

Good morning, all! I had a strange night of viewing: I've had theseNetflix discs sitting aroud for so long I had forgotten why I ordered them! So, I watched THE HOWLING IV - very quickly, because it was so lame -  and after that turkey, a few TOP CHEFs before the big MAKE ME A SUPERMODEL reunion, which must be the rock-bottom worst, the nadir, of these reunion shows for Bravo and Andy Cohen. If it were a soap, it would be tTHE YOUNG, THE DUMB, AND THE PRETTY.

Today, lots more LADY OF THE SLIPPER writing and some pesticiding.

TOD:
DVD: STARDUST, THE RAKE'S PROGRESS, perhaps some of the Noel Coward set, SLINGS & ARROWS bonus material
CD: currently Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops, The Brain From Planet X, Guy Haines, Liz Callaway, Bless The Bride
  VCR: the usual suspects
