THEDA BARA ON MY MIND
« on: April 17, 2008, 12:19:58 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were on your mind, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently having both their eyes and their head examined because all they can think about is Theda Bara.

If the word of the day is Roister does this count?

I remember reading a version of this in Introduction to Theatre

I am not a 100% on this, but.....

I believe that the films that Theda Barare now consider lost to the ravages of time. I know her version of Cleopatra no longer exists. Just photos.

Shame. I always wanted to see a movie with the original vamp of the movies.

Thursday morning greetings!  I'm posting and packing for my trip this afternoon to Zanesville, OH, for the AAUW/Ohio conference and convention.  Enroute I'll stop at the Columbus airport and pick up our out-of-state speaker.  Since her flight isn't due in until about 4pm, I have some time this morning to putter.

TOD - I will lose a ton of metaphorical weight (from my shoulders) when this conference is over, because it draws to a close my 2-year term as program VP.  I will also lose some "paper" weight by turning over to my successor 3 cartons of files (2 of which have sat, unopened, in our garage for the past 2 years  ::))

Hmm... Very interesting choice for the Topic of the Day... Sort of "coincidental" for me... Hmm... Details to come later.

Good morning, all! More work on Ellington today.

DR MichaelShayne, I believe some footage of Miss Bara's career in the flickers still exists and is available on DVD.

I have little else to report.

Thanks, DR Singdaw!

I just set myself up to get text messages on my cell phone regarding the flight status of the person I'm meeting in Columbus.  If I hear that she's delayed, I can adjust my driving accordingly.  Or, go shopping along the way...
