It's not ME - singers today love to have their little bottled waters - as does everyone else.

It's good to have water in bottles when you're in close quarters, like bk's living room, so no one is tripping over and spilling glasses of water!

In this world with MRSA, it is safer to drink out of bottles of water.

So...

I actually do miss that "sound" of the classic cast albums - a.k.a. pre-digital, pre-ProTools.  I know there is something to be said - and admired - about a very "clean" recording, but sometimes things sound a bit too clean to me lately.  That's what immediately turned me off about the OCR of the revival of A Chorus Line - along with the fact that they used a digital piano.  I LOVE the the "dirt" and "muddle" of the original OCR.

On the other hand, I really do love the sound of the In the Heights OCR.  The modern/pop/rap/Latin score and arrangements really do pop on the recording, and it was also nice to hear some very slight "issues" in some of the choral sections.  "Clean" does not always mean "exciting".

Hmm...

Apparently, our landlady had a baby... Six weeks ago... And it appears that the father is the handy-man...

Could be.

I guess she hasn't been singing, "My handyman ain't handy no more."

Finished highlighting and I played through act one, which is now sounding decent.

I have work that needs to be done yet, I'm very sleepy and don't feel like doing it. I'm considering running the vacuum andmaking some more food...oh dear, maybe I should stop watching TV for awhile. I just saw a flying sanitary napkin.  Do I need to see this?

Hmmm.... Something must be in retrograde and/or Uranus again...

One of my other roommate's friends was starting her drive back to Boston a few minutes ago... And got involved in a fender-bender just a block from the apartment.  :-\

OHH!!

Guess I'm staying in a few more hours this afternoon...  "The Barber of Seville" with Juan-Diego Florez is on WNET!

:)

Damn! Missed it again. No air conditioning at Toyland. I stayed until the sweat dripping off my head was heavy enough to drop onto the paper. Then it was futile to try to work any longer there.

So...

Near record-high temps here in NYC...

Rain and flash floods in Indiana...

And now snow(!?!?!?!?!?) in southern Oregon...

-Apparently, Portland, OR, is experiencing a record low temp today.  I hope that DR MBarnum brought something warm to wear when he gets off his flight.

Just stopping in quickly to say HI and tell you that DH Richard has agreed to go see Sex and the City with me in 45 minutes.  Better scoot before he changes his mind!

Yes, it is indeed as hot as they said it would be. Just walking onto my enclosed back porch (where the washer and dryer are) is energy-sapping.

I watched another NCIS episode while I cooked and ate lunch. Combat weapons are finding their way into the hands of mercenaries, and the death of one of the people selling them leads NCIS to find out why. Good episode and a real surprise ending. I was fooled.

Next, I watched four episodes of AMERICAN GANGSTER. This BET series is like NOTORIOUS on the Biography Channel only these deal specifically with infamous black lawbreakers.

The first had to do with the Philly Black Mafia (as they were called) operating out of an Islamic church! Over decades of direct power over crime in Philly, and even now, people are scared senseless to testify against any of them.
