Has Mr. Arnold M. Brockman been around here with his songs of the day?

No; his last post was on June 23rd.  A contribution to the Initials GameTM.

Hope he's OK!

And the word of the day is: MULIEBRITY!

Well in AMB's absence, I propose THE SIMPLE JOYS OF MAIDENHOOD as today's Song o' the Day.

I looked in and saw that only JMK was here, and I thought:  "So sad to be all alone in the forum."

So here I am...ready to snark away.

I had a voice mail on my phone last night.

Deep Discount called to inform me of the extension of its sale, and they gave me a new "code word" to enter in my next order:

SHARK

Feel free to use it if you need to.  I have pondered ordering again, but when I compare the prices w/discount at DD for some things I've been wanting to the regular prices at Amazon.com, I'm finding Amazon's "regular price" is better than DD's discounted price.

That wasn't true on the things I ordered in the first days of the sale, as I comparison-shopped then, too.  But overall, Amazon has better prices on quite a few things that interest me.

Does anyone have Arnold's e-mail address?  I'll see if I can find it, but if someone has it at hand maybe they could drop him a line.

He has an e-mail address in his profile.  I used it to ask him if things are all right.

I highly recommend also checking DVDPlanet, which is also running a 20% off sale.  As I posted yesterday, all but one item I have ordered has been cheapest there.

But most of the core cast did well with their roles and their singing ranged from good to great. So, as I've said in the past, I have all of the other Sondheim-on-TV productions that have been made commercially available (except the Lupone SWEENEY concert which I abhored), and I'm happy to have this. It's better than nothing.

Since I think John Doyle is an inept fraud, I prefer my memories of the original production and the  cast reunion at Lincoln Center around 1994.

Judy Kaye was so wonderful as Mrs. Lovette. I was just sorry that the production was crap. Yes, crap.

I was actually referring to COMPANY, but I feel the same about the god-awful SWEENEY TODD.

Mayhaps he wants to be cremated, then placed into a surprise exploding package and, under a cover letter as a bequest, to be delivered to the MacBeths.

Luckily, my television (rest its soul) had a really bad picture when I tried to watch Company, and we finally turned it off. I probably would have, anyway.
