Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in a haze, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently in a daze.

Welcome to CA - land of consistency:

Plans vary on enforcement of California's hands-free cellphone law for drivers

The San Diego and Oceanside police departments are granting a 30-day grace period before issuing tickets. The CHP plans to be aggressive, stepping up staffing for the Fourth of July weekend.By Hector Becerra and David Pierson, Los Angeles Times Staff Writers
July 1, 2008

With the law requiring drivers to use hands-free devices when making cellphone calls taking effect today, the odds of scofflaws being cited depend on where they are driving.

Although police agencies around Southern California said they would be enforcing the law, some agencies will be more aggressive than others, with the California Highway Patrol vowing the most rigorous enforcement.
...
As with all these driving rules, changing behavior takes time -- and is influenced not just by police crackdowns but by peer pressure, not to mention the fear of tickets.

How much do drivers have to fear? It depends.

Lt. Ruben De La Torre said the Los Angeles Police Department would go through an "educational" period, during which those cited would mostly be drivers who not only had mobile phones pressed to their ear but also were not driving safely.

"It's on a case-by-case basis," he said. "But people have to be aware that it's a clear and obvious violation."

Police departments in San Diego and Oceanside are going a step further, granting an official 30-day grace period before issuing tickets, even though the law itself doesn't include a grace period. "We're trying to ease people into this," said Gary Hassen, a detective with the San Diego Police Department.

But the CHP said drivers had been given enough time and promised a crackdown.

Los Angeles judge drops Hollywood drug case after video contradicts police testimony

In echoes of Rampart scandal, defense attorney says officers planted cocaine on man accused of being a gang member. On surveillance tape produced at trial, one officer tells another: 'Be creative in your writing.'
By Jack Leonard, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
7:42 AM PDT, July 1, 2008

A Los Angeles judge abruptly ended a trial and exonerated a man of possessing cocaine Monday after a courtroom confrontation in which a defense attorney produced a surprise video of his client's arrest that sharply contradicted the testimony of two police officers.

Superior Court Judge Monica Bachner dismissed charges against Guillermo Alarcon Jr., a grocery store worker, after prosecutors reviewed the tape and acknowledged that it was inconsistent with the officers' sworn testimony.

I can hear the OJ apologists now: Where is the tape of Det. Fuhrman planting the bloody glove?

I wondere how many other past cases involcing those officers will now be questioned?

RE: The Little Girl Who Lived Down The Lane Score.

The film is a guilty pleasure, but people who I recommend the film to do not hold the same opinion.

As for the music score I don't remember much about it except for the end title sequence where you see Ms. Foster staring ahead looking at the camera and in the fireplace a most excellent fire burning behind her. It made it captivating that one wants to watch all the credits to the end.

Have you ever seen The Little Girl Who Lived Down the Lane aka La Petite fille au bout du chemin?

I agree with BK regarding the film AUDREY ROSE.  I really enjoyed the book, and I was looking forward to the film version.  Well, the score was nice.

Good morning, all! Another day with the Criswell chart.  My goal is to finish up everything that needs to be photocopied  (6 Violin 1 parts, etc) today and get them copied and taped tomorrow morning. So, my priorities today are the trombones, percussion, and piccolo, which is essentially the Flute 1 part. Once those are finished this morning, I'll begin the rundown from the top of the list. I may do harp and celesta first since keyboard parts are the worst in teerms of number of notes.

DR JRand57, I loved the photos, especially the one of you and Tyson, which could be a "before and after" photo for something, God knows what.

Canada Day celebrations were nice though last night.

There is a huge party like 1 mile from where i live. Singers, dancers. And then fireworks. It was very good!

Wednesday morning greetings!  Like Dolly Levi, I've decided to re-enter the human race.  Got up at a reasonable hour, showered, and am now enjoying coffee and getting ready for the day.  I have to go for a blood test this morning and this afternoon I'm going to attempt to cook pork chops for dinner.

Glad to hear from DR Laura that DR Kerry is doing OK - vibes for him!

Morning all. I'm around and alive. I just haven't been posting very much. I pop in when I can but it's crazy here at the workplace so I'm not saying much, just doing what they pay me to do.

Yes, DR JMK, the screeners I get from studios directly come with nice lead times (paramount is usually more generous than Disney). When the Criterions go through a middle man, I become the victim of both his schedule and the USPS's delivery times. In the case of the latest Criterions, the discs were simply forgotten about due to a weeklong convention in Vegas last week (EMA), so they were 10 days getting PUT in the mail. Ah, well, I'll do 'em when I get 'em.

Nothing on TV tonight, so I'll be working on a review copy of something (either PATRIOTISM if it arrives or STOP-LOSS if it doesn't) this afternoon and tonight.

If I have any free time to watch something for fun, it'll be MURDER SHE WROTE and/or THE CLOSER (which should arrive today).

Thank you for the travel vibes; however, I will divert them to other folks. I'm not going to Fresno until August. Until then, I'll travel a lot between my house and Kerry's.
