I just watched the first episode of "Mad Men," in AMC's season one marathon.  So far...it's just not grabbing me.  I'll watch the second episode and see how I feel about it after that.

We watched the first three episodes and returned the second disc to NetFlix without watching it.

I watched the first show i did not like it either. I have recorded all the other episodes. I guess i will try to watch one or two more. But so far i am having the same reaction you guys are to it.

I have heard of Doctor Who, but only by reading about it here.

And i have not heard of tintin.

I don't think it unusual at all that most people would not have heard of either one.

Well, I think I'm over the getting stressed out part of all this and have moved on to just being in the zone and doing it.  I do have some research to do before I go to bed tonight, before our pretrial conference tomorrow and Tuesday....woo hoo. I'm glad the time is finally here.

Auditions for TIOBE were all right, some useless people there, but they can dream can't they?  Everyone was working like crazy on the SIR sets and drops.....interesting.  And all of the costumes were being moved into the dressing rooms.

AMS is done finished over and THE END.  In the men's dressing room I found on the makeup counter the card that I had written last night to the MOST TROUBLESOME of the TROUBLESOME actors.  There it sat, opened but abandoned....  I looked at it a moment, then tore it up and threw it away.

The nearest B/N store is about 24 miles away.  I hate to pay shipping with my gift card, but driving would cost me about the same.  It is not on the way to anywhere I go.  Do they have enough unadvertised bargains, that it would be worth a drive to the brick and mortar store?

I am also a fan of HIGH AND LOW - I have the earlier Criterion release which I purchased after  reading about the movie here at HHW.....like so many others I have been informed about by the denizens of the MPSOTI.

I like to watch it with THE BAD SLEEP WELL.......

BK, you may be disappointed in the framing for HIGH AND LOW. It looks wider than 2:1, but some of those compositions looked very tight with folks on the extreme ends sometimes having a bit of their bodies out of frame. The main titles are windowboxed.

The box says 2.35:1 but that's not always accurate.

I watched all of the bonus features on HIGH AND LOW when I went back down. There's a nice 37 minute documentary on the making of the film taken from a Toho series of features about Kurosawa's work. There are interviews with Mifune and the actor who played the kidnapper, and there are three trailers, one of which contains what was going to be the final shot in the film before it was deleted (wise move).

Well, the framing was off on THE EARTH DIES SCREAMING, too, but I have a feeling it is much less of a disappointment to its fans.  8)

Next, I got a jump on the Blu-ray of THE SCORPION KING and watched the sDVD version of it tonight. Basically an action picture without a brain in its head, I had seen it before, but only once.
I believe the Blu-ray version has that In-Picture video commentary experience, so I can save myself from having to watch the movie twice tomorrow by watching it with that turned on from the beginning.

There are dozens of other bonus featurettes, too. I watched some of those tonight as well to save myself some time tomorrow.

BTW, THE SCORPION KING may be a cheesy movie, but that sDVD transfer is one of the best I've seen (and it's quite old; the film came out in 2002). Upconverted, it looks as close to HD as any sDVD I've watched in a long time.

I should have watched LAW & ORDER: CI, but I stupidly put in the Blu-ray of THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA and watched up to the point where Andi gets the HARRY POTTER books for Miranda's twins.

Well, I DO adore the movie, but I'm not quite sure what motivated me to put that in the player as opposed to watching L&O:CI or finishing FEAR ITSELF which I also didn't get to.

If for some reason THE SCORPION KING doesn't arrive tomorrow, my next review copy is Martin Scorsese's SHINE A LIGHT documentary on The Rolling Stones concert.

Not a Stones fan obviously, so this should be interesting.

I've watched Dr Who from very early days - but I do not watch it as a "must".  Last one viewed was the recent "Pompei" episode.

I prefer K9 to Snowy!  I loved how K9 stayed behind with Ramada(?) in what dimension it was way back in the Tom Baker days.

Tintin is know to many English kids.  It would be because my childhood neighbours were English migrants that I knew of Tintin.  much the same would be true of Rupert the Bear!

DR (ex) François was and is a major fan of Tintin!

I still have my 45 rpm recording of the Dr Who Theme from circa 1964 on the Decca label.

Of course higher ratings for a TV show in the UK are because there are FAR few channels from which to choose.

Nevertheless, Dr WHO is BIG.

(It does very well here in OZ too.  Sunday night viewing on our National Broadcasting network (ABC rather than BBC)

We watched the first episode of Mad Men and liked it very much.

I've been watching it...it's starting to grow on me.  The flashbacks of Don when he's young are pretty interesting.  I just wonder where it's heading.
