In a TV interview, Michael Phelps, Olympic swimmer (6'3", <200lbs) said he has a hard time adding pounds on his recommended diet of 8,000-10,000 calories per day.

I've never really been a fan of westerns, so....

Well, he's all muscle!  All calorie-burning muscle!

*And according to the commentary tonight, he's double-jointed and has size 14 feet!  Good to know, I guess.  ;)

I don't really care for Westerns much either:
Butch Cassidy
Cat Ballou
Annie Get Your Gun
Calamity Jane
Oklahoma
The Rain Maker

and from TV  "DEADWOOD".

I'll go with the easy ones:

Magnificent Seven (Elmer Bernstein)
Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (Cyril J. Mockridge)
High Noon - (Dimitri Tiomkin)

The Good The Bad & The Ugly
Once Upon A Time In the West

Both had great scores by Ennio Morriconne

A Japanese western Yojimno
which was remade thrice as Fistful of Dollars, Django & Last Man Standing

Not really a western but not sure how to classify it.... Duck You Sucker.

Also liked Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Blazing Saddles

and the sci fi westerns

Westworld
Welcome to Blood City

For the word HOMILY, how about Sammy Davis Jr. and company singing "Rhythm of Life" from the film of SWEET CHARITY?

Favorite westerns?

There are so many.  The western and gangster films and musicals are my favorite movie genres.

Interesting mix, huh.

Okay, here goes (in no particular order):

All of the James Stewart/Anthony Mann westerns
All of the Randolph Scott/Budd Boetticher westerns
UNFORGIVEN (Eastwood)
HIGH NOON
THE SEARCHERS
SHANE
THE UNFORGIVEN (w/Burt Lancaster & Audrey Hepburn)
THE BIG COUNTRY
RED RIVER
APACHE
THE SHOOTIST
THE COWBOYS
3:10 TO YUMA (the original)
THE GUNFIGHTER

Maybe more later.

:)

Thanks.
It's just frustrating to watch the whole season and not know the winner and then with 2 episodes left have someone post it without realizing/thinking.

My, my, I must say how impressive yesterday's initials list was. I think our DRs are really getting good at this. So it's mortal combat between BK and macchus, is it? Well, methinks you two will soon have a run for your money.

Regarding last night's staged reading:

Considering the fact that we were under rehearsed and that we had to substitute a key cast member at the last minute, I was quite pleased.

One thing that I was very happy about is that, with intermission, the show came in UNDER 2 hours.

It's very difficult to judge what works and what doesn't work in a performance like this, since the actors are reading their roles, are not always sure what they should be doing, and there is no time to work on nuances.

Certainly many changes will be made, but I'm not sure if any MAJOR surgery should be undertaken (e.g. cutting this song or that) until we get into rehearsal for a regular production...even if it's an Equity Waiver production.

On the other hand, perhaps I'll feel differently after tonight's performance.

TOD;

I'm not a westerns fan, but I've always loved YOJIMBO. I'll let all of you decide whether you want to call that a western or not. :)
