Thanks, DR Tomovoz!

Today I had the nicest email from my predecessor in the job I'm vacating.  He was very complimentary about my work over the past 5+ years since he retired.

That is nice.  Did he recommend you for the position & will you be suggesting anyone to fill it in January?

On the football broadcast I am watching, the announcer asked his co-announcer to do the introductions for a new quaterback.  The announcer says, "What the coaches like about this quarterback are the intangibles."

Then he stops and says, "Well, perhaps I should explain what intangibles are."

Excuse me?

Boo was not nearly as polite... The color is a bit washed out in this one. The last is more accurate color-wise

Our system is very structured in personnel matters.  When my predecessor retired, I'd been assisting him for about 3 years and we were under a hiring freeze.  So, then the job was just handed to me.  Now, it's an upgraded position (remember when I had to apply and compete for my own job?) and will have to be posted internally for 2 weeks, etc.  My manager would like to get permission for some overlap between me and the next person, but that rarely happens.  It will be very interesting between now and the end of December.

DR Cilla-He looks like the baby to our giraffe.  Ours was also on sale though I'm sure not at 93% off.

I also like the table he is sitting on.

DR Ginny, I'm sure the new person would like overlap as well.  I hope you won't be receiving a ton of calls after you retire.

Cute.  Natasha, our Samoyed, howled every time Craig played a particular song on the piano.  The boys played for several years before she began "singing" to the music.  We have no idea why this particular piece.  I wish I had video taped her.

You'd be grumpy too if Dixie did to you what she does to the 'roo.   ;)

Thanks!   There was a large giraffe that was originally with this one, but that sold and this one didn't.

That reminds me, our little boy is growing up.  The other day he not only vocally corrected a dog behaving inappropriately, he flattened the dog. :o

Our big giraffe must be the Papa, since we named him George, & he stands about 8 ft high to the top of his horns.

George the giraffe is waiting to hear the name of his baby.  We both think Callie looks beautiful in the photo.
