Hmmm, thanks, I may have missed it.  Not sure that's going to work, more in terms of the cost of a cab etc.  I'm actually considereing renting a car.  I normally wouldn't but I'm going to have from 9:30 am until 4:00 PM the day I arrive and will have from noon until 7:30 PM the day I leave so it may be cheaper and easier to just have a car.

I think the point being questioned was the number of songs OTHER than the ones nominated that might have qualified in the place of "My Wishing Doll." Looking back over the films of 1966, I'd say the song writer branch of the Academy certainly got most of the strongest songs in the competition pool.

Speaking of films of 1966, did Henry Mancini have a song in ARABESQUE that might have qualified? I just noticed that 1966 was the first time in a number of years that he didn't have a song up for Best Song.

True to my word, I spent the afternoon with the CSI gang in Miami. The first of the untalented Elizabeth Berkley's guest shots was one of the episodes I watched. Also there was a commentary attached to the episode with Rex Linn (who plays Frank Tripp) embarrassingly slobbering over Elizabeth Berkley who's also there in the sound booth with him. He keeps telling her how HOT she is; I can't believe he has no more class than that.

In all, I got five more episodes watched this afternoon. I still have three more on the disc currently in the player, all of which I should be able to get done tonight before  start watching TRUE BLOOD. Hopefully, I can get even more than three watched.

I'm on break until 6:00, and then I just have an hour with Disney. I did just have some Indian food (some Chili Chicken and "falooda"), and that actually might end being my final meal of the day except for a piece of fruit back at the hotel. We shall see.

In the meantime, I'm just hanging out outside and defrosting (the theater is cold!!

In doing my planning I realized that my flight leaves for DC at 6:10 AM.  So I'll be leaving here Thursday Evening.  Pet/Housesitter is all lined up. I've pretty much decided I'm going to get a car in DC.  There are just too many hours when I have to be out of the hotel or can't check in yet and would either have to valet check my luggage (which I won't do for my laptop - which I'll need) or lug it akk around.  

I have discounts with my membership in some of my organizations and can get a car for 3 days for about the price of round trip cab fare from the airport to the hotel.  So, this way I'll be free to do exploring either via the metro or via car.  I had forgotten how much free time I have  7 hours on Friday and about 5 hours on Sunday.  

Cool! This may be part vacation after all..

Back from the book fair.  Lots of dealers there, but very few customers.  Apparently yesterday was better, but not by much.  I'm thinking that book dealers just don't give a crap about the economy and what it's doing to people, because their prices are higher than ever before.  I saw a book there that I sold to a dealer three or four years ago for $800.  He sold it to a dealer and now that dealer has a price of $5000 on it.  Puhleeze.   One book that this particular dealer passed on because I wouldn't let him jerk me around was Blazing Guns On The Chisum Trail, which is the source novel for the film Red River.  There was a copy at the fair today for $6,500 - yes, it was less problematic than mine, but not by much.
