Speaking for myself, I enjoy the initials game...however it does (or did) seem to elicit an unusual amount of drama for some reason.

Ok. I'd use that one as a quote, Ginny. I don't know what it means, though.

I vote to continue the initials game.

And i like the changes. I think it will make it more fair.

Well, I believe, bk, already stated that the Initials Game is gone.  For now.

In any case...

Yes, I was a being a bit of a stick in the mud about the whole thing the past few weeks.  I did enjoy it at first.  However, as the game changed... And the rules changed... As the list-keeping became something of a necessity for some DRs... Well...

And, basically, all those changes that bk listed bring the game back to how it started off.

*I think we also have to remember that the Game - and this board - was the started off by bk - and DR machhus.  We are "merely" - for lack of a better word (and I know there is one) - are just contestants joining a game in progress.  The only "work" any of us should have to do is to type a name and hit "Post".  -And if someone happens to post a name that was already posted, well, then all we need to do is indicate that in another post.  -With or without a snarky comment.  ;)

I don't find it enjoyable any longer.  That's why I basically stay away on Mondays.

I certainly don't mind others having fun, though, so I'm not against that.

When the game began, macchus wasn't posting, so there was nothing going on between he and I (not that there was for me, for me it was always fun, even though I occasionally had sport with him, comment-wise).  It was just a divertissment as it were, but in recent weeks it's just been much too weird, so it's easier to dispense with it.  I do not like drama on this site, so it's simply not worth it.

Back from the long jog - not too bad today.  I need to package up some orders now but I have an unexpected appointment at 12:30.  Meanwhile, several e-mails to one party remain unanswered so I have indeed left a telephonic message - it, too, remains unanswered, but hopefully a response will be forthcoming soon, because I need information that this party has and I need it now.

I think Memphis and Dan would lose if either were in final two with Keesha, so it seems like a good idea to me for them to evict her.  That said, I think they're stupid to want to take each other to final two.  Either would do well against Jerry, I think, as long as Keesha and Renny are still allied with them.  Right now, I see Renny and Libra as a good bet for any of the Renegades.  Dan was smart to woo Michelle, but it doesn't mean she'll vote for him or enourage others to do so.  I'm certain it's obvious to Renny that he invited Michelle.  I don't know if Keesha will be very thrilled to learn about that, either.   If I were Dan, I'd worry more about Keesha.  But I'm not Dan....so....djkfjkdlkj ;ljalkjaf;lkjlkj;alkj ajkl akja;lfkjlkj aflkjafk;ljask lj;asl jkas;lkjas;ldfj ;lksajf;lkjas;lfkjl; fdslk jasf;lkjsdf;l kjasd jk;lsdfk;ljdsfjklasf;lkajds f kjldsaf;lkjasdf;lkajsdf;lkjds  ;lksadfl ;kjsadfjk;l.

My standard DVD is "out for delivery" this very minute!  :D

Well call me insane (you wouldn't be the first by a longshot), but I had a bunch of Best Buy giftcards and I went ahead and got the SD Ultimate Collectors edition today (for 29.99, not bad), just for the extras that aren't in the Blu-Ray edition.  I'll watch this afternoon.  :)

In response to yesterday's post by S. Woody White:

Well, here it is, not Monday, and I am posting something-----The new refinements to the game came about because I didn't think Bruce and I were being fair to the other players.
This IS a contest.  It's a game.  If done right, it's a great game.  You seem to want to make it a shared learning experience.  If that's what it is, it's a mediocre one at best.  We wanted you all to have more of an advantage.  If you happen to be the only one on the website in the middle of the night, you should just have to wait until someone else posts.  It will happen eventually.  This doesn't prevent you from compiling a list so that when someone else does post, you'll be prepared.  Hitting the tennis ball against the wall is a small price to pay to turn this into a great, fair game. Or contest.
The one thing we should watch out for is if someone posts a name that has already been posted.  This should not be grounds for posting another name.
Bruce, as far as my senility is concerned, there's no doubt that it exists, but even though I originally used to play this game with reversible initials, we never decided to do that in mid-game.  That's what I objected to.
Macchus, you are neglecting one very important fact: This is the Internet.  You have no way of controlling the actions of the "players" in this game.  In other words, there is no way to keep a player from ignoring your rules and posting several names in a row.  Truthfully, how are you going to stop it?  Ban people from the site if they don't behave the way you want them to?  That goes against the community spirit that makes HHW such a happening place to be!

I for one do not like the idea of cancelling the game, but that is BK's call.  Der B and I have had fun on Mondays, running the lists and keeping score, even if it does mean a bit of work for the two of us.  But please, Macchus, get over the idea that it has to be a contest.  That worked when the two of you were together in the car.  It doesn't work in the free-form world of the Internet.

See my post above for my thoughts on the game - it was never a contest on this site - in the car, sure.  Not here.  Not the intention, and I stated that many, many times.

An additional thought:

There are some members of this community who are unable to spend their entire day logged in to HHW.  They may have a half hour, at most, to catch up with what is going on.  (This is where having the list helps, of course, because they don't have to spend that entire half hour going through all the posts to avoid duplications.)  By insisting that they wait until someone else posts a name, after they post their first contribution, they will be deprived of many of their  chances to add to the list.  And that is certainly just as unfair to them, and to the rest of us, because some of their "second choice" names turn out to be brilliant ones.

And it has started to rain.

Just coincidence, of course.

I forgot! I have to vote today.

I am back from the nutritionist, and yes, DearReaderLaura, I have a lot of reading. I like her a lot; her name is Laurie, and I go back to see her next Tuesday at noon.

As to the initials game, it drives me crazy, but that doesn't mean I'm against it at all, and I think it should continue. If people don't want to play it, no one has to. Yesterday morning, I could think of no names but Hattie McDaniel and houghton Mifflin; one was already given and one was a publisher, so I took the day off to work on various jobs.  Some days, the names come easily.

What I'm stumped with now, is my Adriana Hoffstedder mystery review, and I just cancelled what I had written to rethink it. BK, will there be a third and p'raps a fourth? Maybe there could be a death backstage at WICKED so that Billy is a bit more active with Adriana?
