I watched a movie on dvd which I had never seen: Vincente Minnelli's HOME FROM THE HILL.
George Hamilton could really act as could George Peppard. Robert Mitchum gave a concise performance, while Eleanor Parker, with a difficult role, teeter-tottered her way through (noticeably, her dialogue was looped in at a later time).
Hard to believe it was a Minnelli film, the subject matter (a familial soap opera of East Texas) is not something I would have expected Minnelli to tackle and only rarely was his fine use of color in evidence.
Even at two hours and thirty minutes, the film swept by. I checked the timing on the dvd at only one point, and there were only twelve minutes remaining; I was never once bored.
