I agree with DR RLP -

ANYTHING with pesto is divoon.

:)

Pesto ice cream?

Nah.  It would make a much better sorbet.

;)

Well, Shake Shack did feature Basil Frozen Custard this past summer...

However, I'd have to agree that Pesto would work better as a sorbet due to the addition of the garlic, parmesan cheese, pine nuts and olive oil.  I could easily see a small scoop of Pesto Sorbet on top of Flank Steak "slider", or even "scraped" on top of some grilled chicken skewers.

*And the Doughnut Plant does make Basil (cake) Doughnuts too.  Yum!

Tonight I shall watch NCIS and THE MENTALIST, and with the encouragement of what was written here last week, I will also jump over to ELI STONE at the end of the evening.

Why should I let Katie Holmes keep me from watching a show I really liked last year?

And Mrs. Cruise is not on tonight's episode anyway.  At least I don't think she is.  ???

Tonight for dinner, I am... NOT COOKING!

The store is having a special on it's pre-made soups: buy two 24-oz tubs, any flavor of soup, and get a 16-oz bag of Iceberg Salad and a 2 litre store-brand soda free.

So, we've got clam chowder for tonight, and lobster bisque for tomorrow (or the night after, yet to be decided).

Of course, running up the tab a bit was my decision to add a small bacon and onion quiche, ready for reheating.  And der B's decision to add an avocado, for the salad.  And my adding a couple of bottles of dressing, also for the salad (his fave: vidalia onion; my fave: sesame ginger).

DR JANE - the shot leading into the FLU happened to me year before last......last year not so much.

Are you saying your timing was off or the shot made you feel like you had the flu?  What are you doing this year?  I figure if I'm getting it, the sooner the better.

I got both the flu shot and a pneumonia shot this year....weeks ago, actually.

And, absolutely no reaction?

From the flu shot, nothing.  No soreness after, no sniffles or minor cold.

From the pneumonia shot, a big "ow-ee" for a couple of days until the soreness went away.

Back from rehearsal.  Ate two tuna sandwiches for my meal.  And I have a nice snack for later - in unexpected news, the new Kritzerland title is now live and orders are coming in.  You can see cover art and hear samples at kritzerland.com

The flu shot is good for about 3 months, so it's possible you may need a booster if there is an outbreak later in the season like there was last year.   I forgot to call my DR to see if I've had a pneumonia shot. I don't think so, but I remember talking about it, so I need to check before I get one

Loved the food pictures, DR Vixmom, and the confirmation photos even more!  Tell us about how you celebrated after the service.

The Vixter wanted a low key celebration amd her youth group was having a Halloween Costume party that she was bound and determined to go to;  so, at her request, we (Vixdad, vixnana, vixpapa, vixuncle, vixuncle's girlfriend, vixter and myself) went to the Outback for a small celebration

After dinner we came home and she dressed herself as some obscure anime character and went off to her Youth Group festivities

Hey!   Will somebody please shake Debra real hard for a few seconds.  She seems to have lost control of vowels and consonants.

Whatever do you mean, Ron??

Everyone in Philly is on pins and needles this morning after last night's game suspension of the World Series.  What a disappointment!  And it's gonna seem kind of anti-climatic to just play three innings tonight.  I would rather that the Phillies lost tonight and won the Series in a real game even if it's played in Tampa Bay.  Grrrrr--between this and the election I really can't wait for the next week to be over!

In any case, I will be wearing my Phills cap all day unless a VP tells me otherwise.

There's a World Series going on? I thought if New York wasn't in it they just canceled it due to  lack of interest

 ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

DR vixmom - What's the name of the book/website from which those food pics were taken?

I have no idea where they originated; they came to me in an email

Thank you for the beautiful autumn leaves photo, Vixmom. We don't  have those in the desert.

Yesterday when we drove to the Grand Canyon, we drove through the high elevation where we have yellow aspen leaves in the fall. The trees were bare.

I think so are so lucky to be able to drive to the Grand Canyon - I was there for 3 days  25 years ago - it was so beautiful -   I would love to go back some day with  Vixdad and the Vixter

Vixmom, be sure to go to Sedona if you go to the Grand Canyon.  Maybe on the way try and go to Mesa Verde http://www.nps.gov/meve/  Not only is it fun & interesting it is educational.

We went to the cliff dwellings place - and to the Sedona desert museum and to a observatory where we were allowed to use a specially filtered telescope to look at teh sun - we could see the solar flares it was amazing

My friend's aunt and uncle lived in Tuscon and they allowed us to spend a week at their home - we werew there for the  4th of July  it must have been around 1982 - I will have to pull out my old photo albums and have a look - it was a wonderful trip!
