It's "summer" here in Oakland, too.  Expected high today is F 80.

Records will be shattered in many Bay Area cities, towns and environs.

WOW!  It is going to be a whopping 50 degrees here & sunny.

What is the weather in NY?  Both of our boys are there.

Too warm, I think.

This is too warm?  61 degrees looks good to me.  Bryan might agree with you about it being warm.  It should feel cooler if you don't have sunshine.  I'm glad it isn't raining.

As for "Survivor" - I haven't been following this season all that closely - I just tend to watch it with my roommate, Jim, when he catches up with it on the DVR, but...  I can't stand Crystal/C.C.  Was she really an Olympic athlete?  And I find her "attitude" so fake, like she's putting on an act.  YUCK!

That is all.

Tonight I shall catch the little feral orange kitten that has been in the backyard so I can tame him and give him to DR Kerry. Shh. Don't tell him.

I won't tell him if you won't!

Good morning.  I did a "to do" list of my open items for the tax office, and there's nothing like getting everything you have to do listed on one piece of paper to make it SEEM more manageable timewise.

And can you read said list without the aid of a magnifying glass?

Or did you print your list on a piece of 11x17 paper?

We are having another fund-raising day here...raising money to offset the costs of our "evening" Christmas party (which may not happen this year if enough funds aren't generated to make hiring a place feasible).

Today, we have our Silent Auction, many items for which were donated by me over the course of the past year during several major "clean-outs" at home.  I will be helping in the afternoon, primarily in the clean-up.

We also have a Nachos Sale from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  This has replaced, this year, our annual Bake Sale.  Folks in charge of the event didn't want to have to slice cakes/pies and portion out cookies/brownies/fudge and then put price stickers on them.  They'd rather sling melted cheese over nacho chips.  Much easier, they say.

I'm gonna miss the bake sale, although the lady who baked the best cakes (and said cakes were sold "whole") retired a year ago.  I have her recipes, but it's still not the same as her sister, a "Sister" in a Catholic order, did their baking, and the "Sister" was not a stickler for adhering to the recipe measure of rum in the Rum Cake or wine in the Wine Cake.  Those Rum Cakes brought tears to my eyes, they did!  I've made a passable Rum Cake of my own, too, but I try to avoid sweets as a rule.

Crystal Cox (born March 28, 1979 in Norfolk, Virginia) is an American track and field athlete. She won a gold medal in the women's 4x400 m relay at the 2004 Summer Olympics. In 2004, she was the American indoor 200 m champion.

During last night's "Survivor" voting, they showed Randy voting for Crystal.  When he held the card up to the camera, he said, "Bitch!"

That will likely haunt him the rest of his life.

And speaking of Bake Sales...

Bake Sales Fall Victim to Push for Healthier Foods

*Although I don't think the switch in DR Ron Pulliam's office from "baked goods" to "nachos" was motivated by the same nutritional concerns.

Oh, I never doubted that she was actually in the Olympics, I'm just amazed at her lack of athletic prowess during the challenges.

Good morning all.  I am up.  This afternoon I have to take Toby in for his two month check-up.  He'll be getting his first round of shots, so I anticipate a very cranky baby this evening.

Re: Grey's Anatomy.
Wha?????  I'm not loving some of the plot twists here.  I'd heard a brain-tumor rumor about Izzy earlier in the season, a possible retaliation for Heigel's Emmy fiasco last year.  These latest developments could be the beginning of that.  And the intern plot line is just freaking me out!!

TOD:

DVD:

The PBS production of Stud Turkel's Working, originally broadcast in 1982, with music and performances by a whole slew of people.  Good grief, that's from before der B and I got together!  No wonder he doesn't remember watching it with me!

WOW!  I guess that was originally broadcast back in 1982.  I remember taping that, and watching it numerous times - and wearing out the VHS tape in the process.  -Then when I came across a copy at the Richmond Public Library...

Yes, the show was cut down a bit for it's "American Playhouse" presentation, but it was nice having Studs Terkel on-screen.  Oh, and Bill Beyers too.  -Who is also sadly no longer with us.

Which shouldn't be too much longer, if Crystal's temperament is any indication.  :)

OMG!

Y'all won't believe it, but it's twoo! It's twoo!

I was sitting here minding my own business (mostly) when our director's secretary came down and said, "I'm bearing a gift for you!"

Puzzled, I said, "Oh, wow!  Is it a work project?"

She laughed and said, "No." And she held up a bag and handed it to me.

Inside -- NO LIE -- was a RUM CAKE!  From the lady who retired a little over a year ago.  Debbie, the secretary, is the lady's best friend.  Shirley, the lady (and she'd deck me for calling her that), baked two cakes (that, or her sister, "Sister" Elaine, did)...one to donate to our Silent Auction  and one for me!!!!

I'm just bustin' my buttons!   ;D

It pleased me greatly to note that it was Sugar trying to get folks to vote for Randy in the early going.   I think Crystal and Kenny and Susie are in a position of power right now.  One week ago, they looked like goners.

Being fast at 200m doesn't make you swift and agile crawling over and under ropes or pushing a giant ball.  LOL.

She's tall and gangly.  Running speed on a flat surface is her talent.  There just don't seem to be any flat surfaces in the competiitions.
