Back from rehearsals and a trip to J&R.  Rehearsals were fun - I heard six singers and they're all really good.  The duet with Julie Reiber and Katie Adams from Wicked will be a real highlight, as will a movie medley sung by Terry Burrell.  But the true highlight of the day was seeing our amazing ensemble do Turkey Lurkey Time with the original Bennett choreography.  I sat there like a kid in a candy store and I just didn't want it to end.  Our opening number is looking good, too.

Didn't really have time to think about a restaurant tonight, so it's Joe Allen's again, but tomorrow will be something new, and so will Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

And now I must be on my way to sup with our very own Miss Juliana Hansen and Mr. Kevin Spirtas.

Good Evening!

I still haven't found my keys, but, again, I still haven't started looking for them again.  So....

Another good day of auditions.  And I got to play for some of my "idols" again today - well, people I've admired for years(!).  Nothing like a bit of "star-struck-ness" to make the day go faster.  :)

And, yes, bk and I took a trip down to J&R.  I didn't buy anything this trip, although, there were a couple of "temptations" along the Classical Vocal new releases.  Maybe tomorrow... ;)

*bk - Did find more than a couple of things.  He just didn't buy all of those "things".

*And the new Public Transit "enhancement" for Google Maps on the iPhone really came in handy for my trip back uptown.  I guess it gets it's transit information in real time since it actually was spot-on with the departure and arrival times for my A train back uptown.

Some folk here were talking about J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye last week.

In yesterday's NY Times Book Review, one of the dealers was offering a first edition.  For a mere $18,500.00.

Does anyone want to buy it for DR The Vixter's school report?

DAMN!

You spoiled the surprise!!!!!

unless of course there's a Little Debbie in THE LITTLE RASCALS.

There's a Little Debbie in all of us.

...And if you put a Little Debbie's Oatmeal Cream Pie in the microwave for a couple of seconds... Hmmm... :)

Dear BK - I think you should eat at The Renaissance Diner on 9th Avenue.

Alas, The Renaissance has gotten really spotty and inconsistent lately, especially at breakfast and brunch.  However, their sandwiches and burgers seem to be foolproof.

*And I'm still a little "mad" they stopped making their homemade corn chips.  They would serve them with maple syrup.  Soooo good.  -Well, they were soo good.

Whip The Renaissance into shape, Jose; I plan to dine there when I'm in town to see EQUUS.

DR Jane - I see Mallomars all the time in the stores.  Are they a seasonal item on the West Coast?

Interesting, they should be seasonal on both coasts.  I can't get them here anymore, at least I haven't seen them for a number of years now.  My brother gets me a box at a little market near him.

Hmm... I did a little research, and they are a seasonal item - they're only produced three months out of the year.  Maybe I only looked for them, noticed them during the "colder months".  -Or maybe some stores just had some "old stock" on their shelves?

I remember playing for a show that "featured" Mallomars - one of the lead characters ate them.  So, of course, backstage were boxes and boxes of them.  And, of course, after one package was opened on stage - and only two of them were consumed - all the "leftovers" were put on the "free-for-all" table.... :)

And here's a NY Times article from 2005 about the beloved treat: The Cookie That Comes Out in the Cold

*And they haven't fixed/adjusted their air compressor (for the A/C, ventilation system).  If you sit up front, you end up feeling the "pounding" in your ears from the air pressure.  ???

I've been enjoying reading about all the wonderful trips.  I'm sorry I won't be sticking around to read more.  My body is screaming at me to take a break from the computer.  So for the next week, except for work & email, I'm going to try & stay off of it.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, DR Jane!

I often recommend that Turkish restaurant around the corner from DR Rodzinski's apartment, but nobody ever goes.

It was very, very good.

*I prefer Turkuaz a couple of blocks north of DR elmore's digs.  Besides some wonderful food, they also have belly-dancing!  -But "Turkish Cuisine" is a good restaurant too.
