DR DRUXY - I think your experience was used in a movie I saw.....

What was the movie?

I'll rent it...then demand royalties.

 :D

PUNCHLINE with Miss Sally Field.....she's a divorcee who aspires to be a stand up comedienne.  She has two small daughters....one of which keeps telling her jokes.  Sally is very patient and tells her after each one...."That's not quite right for mommy's act."

One evening when a dinner at home with her parents, and potential fiance, and her priest, is going completely awry.....in the middle of the chaos, her little girl says, "Mommy, I heard a joke today you can use in your act....."

Sally gives her a smile and sees a light at the end of the tunnel and says:  "All right, dear....tell your joke...."

Whereupon the little girl says:  "What did one c**ksucker say to the other c**ksucker."

Quick cut to Sally ushering all of her guests out the front door.

Maybe I'm in the monority but I think the film of WHITE CHRISTMAS has a dreadful screenplay and one number, "Choreography," that I find appalling.  When I was a kid, I loved the film, which I saw in its first release, but 50 years later, which is when I caught it again, I think it really stinks. I like the cast, especially Rosemary Clooney - I know her son Rafael - who was always very sweet and funny when I'd run into her, and some of the songs but the film leaves no great impression with me.  I look forward to seeing the stage version for several reasons - I know the orchestrator Larry Blank, vocal arranger Bruce Pomahac, choreographer Randy Skinner, book writer David Ives, and Steve Bogardus - and I think it will be silly holiday fun.

I also would like to see NUTCRACKER at City Ballet again before I leave for Ohio, because it's the best thing in Manhattan to put me in a holiday mood.

On tv tonight:
I'm not sure about SMALLVILLE. It says it is new on the CW website. So i'm going to record it.

It's odd because the CW has a preview showing that the next episode of SMALLVILLE is jan 15th. Yet they have all new on their line-up tonight (which it obviously is not).  They are usually pretty good about putting new only if a show is new.

I saw that movie.  Enjoyed it.

Do you think I should sue Sally Field?

Jane Curtin and Martin Mull were introduced as the parents of the Allison Morgan character - Gary's ex....  I am not sure if I am annoyed at the actress or the character she plays.

And the kids are the WORST kind of sitcom kids, especially the son who smirks and does the Debra Messing mouth pull down with every line...

BUT Gary Unmarried has Jay Mohr as the title character AND Max Gail as his father.......

I can't say enough about Bogardus - not a star, but he really knows how to take a stage and make you watch him.  He knows how to play the scenes and he understands his character.  The other guy - terrible.  Not only no star quality, but unfunny, trying to BE funny, which is the worst.  And after all I'd heard about his dancing, just a big bore with none of the personality or style it takes to be a great dancer.  Great dancing isn't just doing the steps.

I agree. I saw him in the lackluster (and altogether lacking) HIGH SOCIETY in the Jimmy Stewart/Frank Sinatra part, and he was solid from beginning to end.

No, I'll have to part company with dear Elmore on WHITE CHRISTMAS. I wouldn't think of a Christmas season without watching it. I have loved it from the first moment I saw it on SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES, and it became like THE WIZARD OF OZ and CINDERELLA for me, a much anticipated annual event.

I just wish Paramount would give the film a thorough remaster. That's a mighty old transfer that needs some sprucing up.

Gail is not a regular, but shows up from time to time.

I love the movie WHITE CHRISTMAS except for the BIG conflict that could be settled if someone just talked to someone else......

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all! I am thankful for my HHW friends. Even though I haven't been around every day, I still try to keep up with everyone. I read in my ipod touch because my computer is commandeered for the Mercer project and other people are using it to input into my archival databases, and the browser on my rented editing system crashes whenever you try to use it.

I'm not good at typing on the ipod, it takes forever, but I've been sending vibes to all who need them, especially Vixmom, TCB and Stan, Jayson and Singdaw, Dear Reader Laura and her sister, travel and key finding vibes to Jose and Cillaliz and smooth show vibes to our own fearless leader, bk.

I don't have any particularly outstanding T-Day memories, but I do remember taking my computer to my mom's last year and working on bk's birthday video in the back bedroom while everyone else watched football/slept!

One of my favorite movies. And the priest was played by Jimmy Brogan, one of my favorite stand-ups. I wish he was still touring; he was so funny. He never used profanity, and had no act, he just completely improved off the audience, brilliantly.

For example, when he asked a lady if she had a job and she said "None right now", he immediately came back with "Really. What order"?

And the word of the day is: HYPAETHRAL!
The reason Ron Howard is partial to baseball caps is because, if he wore just a visor, he would be HYPAETHRAL and probably get a sunburn.

The church where I work did not do the Pilgrim renactment thing this year.

I did not have to wear a rented costume and lead the thing.

I was most Thankful for that.
As long as, instead, they aren't doing a re-enactment of Custer's Last Stand.  That would be unseemly.

Anthony's father is retiring. Tomorrow is his last day of work. He's excited. So is Anthony's mother although she is also worried about the fact that she will now have a husband around the house 24/7. I guess that happens a lot when husbands retire.
And it sounds a lot like DH Richard's lot in life.  (((Happy hugs to he and DR Ginny.)))

Andy Williams looked really good on the parade show.

But why didn't someone interview him?  Or don't they do that on these shows?
