DR DANISE - it is not your responsibility if the doggie takes the walk.  He has a whole week, and I think people who come in looking for pets are encouraged to look at the dogs on the line first.

And if he bit someone, no matter how nice he seemed on the day you saw him, there is something in his nature that is unpredictable and could make him difficult for you to own.

Impending doom - no matter how tragic - is not a motive to adopt a pet.

Am I a heathen for never having seen A Christmas Story??

I can't believe you wouldn't want to after it's been a Christmas mainstay for the last decade, just for curiosity sake alone.

I saw/reviewed it when it came out. I was enchanted by it then, and it still works its spell on me now. So many things about it ring true even though I was a generation later than the time period of the movie.

Good morning!

Very cold but absolutely bright and shining. Might as well call it winter, though because it definitely feels like it.

Yes, I too have vivid memories of that ALFRED HITCHCOCK HOUR episode, clearly the best one ever made for the show's hour episode format. (I also loved "The Jar.")

With the whole day free, I'm not sure what I want to watch. DR. SYN certainly seems tempting. So does ANNETTE. I have a stack of Blu-rays and a smaller stack of HD-DVDs I'd like to start winnowing down. So many choices.

I do have one more Bette Davis movie in her last Warner set (IN THIS OUR LIFE) that I'll likely watch at some point today. It's never been a favorite despite being directed by John Huston. This kind of female-driven melodrama just isn't his cup of tea.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And not only is the Internet out again - which isn't bugging me that much today - but I just had to call the landlord to remind her to call the oil company since there's been no heat for the past 24 hours. :-\ Thankfully, I have a very toasty down comforter.

Guess I'll head down now to get clothes ready for washing and then start thinking about what's for lunch.

DR elmore - Get to the theater early. Last night's showing in Times Square filled up fast and early. And when I walked out, there were already about 50 people in line for the next showing.

I've been watching "Meet the Press" this morning. I enjoyed the interview with President-Elect Barack Obama, but I also liked the passing of the baton, torch to David Gregory.

And we're back!

-Well, the internet has been restored once again here in Chez Harlem.  It appears that our wireless router might actually be on it's last technological legs.  Jim's going to bring an extra one from his office, and we're going to see if that ends up fixing things for more than a couple of hours at a time.

DR MATTH - Annette goes very quickly....and its interesting to contemplate what Darlene Gillespie would have made of the role that went to Judy Nugent.  Episodes 1 and  8 are previews and recaps of the whole series, so you can start with episode 2 if you want to.

Good morning!  Feeling a bit better this morning.  Still very phlegm-y, but less sinus pressure and therefore less pain.  I feel that it is probably moving down into my chest, and will become a persistent cough for a few weeks.  That I can handle.  I by-passed the dreaded ear infection stage, so I'm happy.

A VERY VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR LOVELY DR JANE.  I hope it is a day filled with family, good tidings, and cake.  Lots of cake.

No heat!???

Nope. No heat. In fact, it feels like there is cold coming off the radiators. However, it is cold, but it's not that cold.  We can't see our breath.  Yet.

As Druxy said, Fohsh.  My father, for the last five years of his life, became, like my Uncle Saul, a CPA, and did Miss Foch's taxes, as well as Mr. Arthur O'Connell's taxes.  In fact, he brought the latter to the Westwood sneak preview of The First Nudie Musical.
