Had a nap, was awoken by the delivery of DR Jrand's birthday gift! An assortemnt of motion picture and television delights which I will be enjoying quite soon.

But now to finish the Bollywood film I began prior to my nap...one of the most popular Indian films ever made, SHOLAY (1975).

Sholay looks, sounds and plays just like a spaghetti western and stars Dharmendra, Amitab Bachchan, Hema Malina, and Sanjeev Kumar with a fantastic dance number by Helen.

How nice for Ginny to be asked what she likes for her party!

Yes, and yellow cake with caramel icing sounds good.  I don't believe I have ever had it.

DR Jane - was Sanders still in business when you lived in Michigan?  They were Detroit confectionary that had a bakery outlet in our neighborhood supermarket.  They made the best yellow cake with caramel icing!

They had one close to us.  I foolishly didn't try the caramel icing. :o  I remember sending the fudge topping to friends who requested it.

Hmmm... Now I'm wishing that Magnolia Bakery would bring back their Devil's Food Cake with Caramel Icing.  -They took it out of their regular rotation about four years ago.  Ah, well.

DR MBarnum - Has "Slumdog Millionaire" opened in your area yet?  It was supposed to have gone "wide release" this weekend.  It's definitely a movie to see in a theatre, as a "communal experience".

Congratulations DR FJL!

DR Cilla, I'm glad you are finally happy with your decision on the floor.

DR Cillaliz - Glad to hear that everything worked out at Home Depot.

Thanks DR Jose and DR  Jane.  I feel much better about it.  I find it very interesting that they don't tell you that your floor has to be perfectly level and that your walls have to be perfectly square until you start looking at the insert inside the box of laminate.  There was something on line saying they don't want to scare off do it youselfers.

Everyone I talked to today agreed that laminate wouldn't be easy to put in with the problems I have.  I am so glad I made this decision.

Better go run some quick errands, looks like ice and snow may start tonight

Oh I love me my animal movies, even if I know they are going to be sad.

Me, too. I love many of the movies the folks here avoid: THE YEARLING, OLD YELLER, etc.

Having finished the box set of BONES the other day and not having any TV episodes on the DVR that I haven't gotten to yet, I searched through my unopened TV box sets and settled on HONEY WEST.

I watched two episodes, but not from disc one. I didn't see disc one hidden behind all those inserts in the box, so I put in disc two thinking it was the first disc. Thus, my first episodes were #9 and #10. Both were entertaining little P.I. dramas. Not great, but great to see the handsome and hunky John Ericson, and Anne Francis never looked so glorious than in this series.

The DVD company who produced this hasn't done a great job on mastering these episodes for disc. Compared to the B&W Tv shows I review from the Paramount library, these discs crawl with mosquito noise, aliasing, and other digital artifacts. Still, better these than nothing at all.

J. Pat O'Malley was the guest star in the second episode I watched. He's always a joy to watch in anything.

My work disc for the day is GHOST TOWN, but since I knew I wouldn't have all afternoon to view the movie, I went ahead and watched the three bonus featurettes produced by bk favorite Laurent Bouzereau.

Now, all I have left is to watch the movie tonight and then listen to the audio commentary.

Also, I was thrilled that my copy of THE DARK KNIGHT on Blu-ray finally arrived today. If I have time tonight after GHOST TOWN, I may watch it. If not, tomorrow for sure.

Experiencing some down time here before I begin prepping myself for a party.  Watching the Best of the Andy Williams Christmas Specials on our local PBS station.  This show puts me in such a merriest of Merry Christmas moods that you would want to smack me.

That disc 1 thing got me with HW, too, as well as BURKE'S LAW.

Of course, there's no mention of Claudine Longet by name throughout this show, though she is shown occasionally.  Sort of sad.

And on that not-so-Yuletide note, it's time for me to head back out again.  I'll be heading back to Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall for tonight's Bernstein program.  It's a great mix of instrumental, chamber and vocal works tonight.  I have a couple of friends on the bill - and on the stage - tonight, and they've been "buzzing" about the program all week.

DS Zach just got the coolest late birthday gift--a poster for Coraline (not due for several more months) signed personally to him by director Henry Selick!  Isn't that neat?

Here is a blog I was introduced to recently, it is devoted to hot, hot, hot Bollywood guys...and quite often butt shots of them...although hairy Indian actor chests often take center stage.

If you like hot, hunky Indian actors (and who doesn't), check it out...even if you are not a Bollywood fan I think you will find something here that you will enjoy.

I met Miss Honey West herself a few years back at one of the Ray Court's Shows...what a sweetheart! And still so beautiful! I have heard she is in very poor health now, however.

TONIGHT ON TCM.....

Mr Van Heflin stars in COUNT THREE AND PRAY.

The film is the cinema debut of Miss Joanne Woodward.  It also features an outstanding supporting performance by Mr Raymond Burr....and her own personal favorite of her performances by MISS ALLISON HAYES.....in case you might want to see her less than 50 feet tall.

TCM....10 p.m. here on the east coast.....your time may vary.

I saw Miss Honey West play M'Lynn in STEEL MAGNOLIAS in Chicago and she was fantastic....I did keep expecting to see Robby the Robot come into the beauty parlor....

Anne Francis - as DR MBARNUM wrote - was still beautiful to behold.
